Hot Tub Controller Hack part 3

A friend has a Coleman hot tub from 1994 and the controller has failed. It's a strange failure and I think I can modify the controller and add a hacked in a cheap Chinese temperature control module along with a switch to turn the jets on/off while still using 90% of the original control board.

I agree. My first purchase but alice1101983 did have the best price and shipping for what I was looking for. You can find this same unit and many just about the same from alice and many many others. The market if flooded with Chinese devices on eBay.

Why did you hardwire the low speed and the temp controller together? Wouldn't it have been better to have the speeds separately on the three way switch and the temp control independent of the speed control?

You will probably want to set this between 38 and 42 degrees Celsius for a hot tub!

My friend that owns this hot tub said he normally ran it at 100F to 102F so I was thinking 38 C to 39 C which would be 100.4 F to 102.2 F and most online recommendations say to not go over 104 F which would be 40 C. 42 C would be 107.6 F which sounds too high but I have never owned a hot tub so I wouldn't know. You have one?

I did about the same thing years ago. I used a salvaged control products programmable temp controller, driving a huge relay for a home water heater element housed in some 2" pvc pipe. I ran the hot tub at 104 degrees. 105 degrees was too hot. I only turned it on when we used it. Took 10 minutes to warm it up.
