We had a miami for over 3 and half years until it ripped at one of the seams last summer. I did try repairing it but it wasn't the same, would slowly deflate. Ive just ordered one of these from Very.... I plan to do the exact same thing with the insulation, especially having that outer liner to keep it in place it should be a doddle. I had my miami on those sponge mats, im going to get some insulation board for the base and put the mats on that this time and see how that works. We fill ours with hot water and use the elec heater to top up the temp. Its through the night especially the cold months where the drop in temp can be significant. Hope fully with the extra insulation it will mitigate the heat loss. Great video!

Just bought the Helsinki (2021) and turned the heater off yesterday it only dropped from 38 to 35 degrees in 15 hours. Outside temp was about 12 degrees. I have doubled up on the foam mating. Still plan to wrap the inner lid and see if I can make it even more efficient. Great video.

Thanks for the feedback it sounds like you’ve got a toasty tub. Maybe record yourself insulating it for others to see you do the Helsinki

Good video my lazy spa doesn't have the outer liner so I've ordered a fitted winter cover which will protect against the weather and UV but will also enable me to line it with foil insulation. I'm going to use spray contact adhesive to apply it on the inside of that cover. I've also ordered 25mm extra high density polystyrene as insulation for the lazy spa cover and as a base for under the lazy spa. I will also line the polystyrene with the insulation foil aswell.

There is some comparatives on the lay z spa owners Facebook page. I remember they were positive savings so for the sake of £50 odd quid and a lot of spare time I wrapped it up

Did you measure your savings? Did it make a difference? Was it worth your effort?
@kevinjeffery7923 жыл бұрын
The tub can be switched off overnight and it will only drop a few degrees. Others have worked it out in pounds the savings - this can be seen on the layzspa owners page on Facebook. Personally I definitely think it’s worth doing

Where can i get the outer liners from? We have a Miami/Baja hot tub,

Well done definitely going to be doing this to my lazy spa do you think you need the plumbers tape as you have the gorilla tape?
@kevinjeffery7923 жыл бұрын
Gorilla tape be fine

How much foil packs did you require to do all this?
@kevinjeffery7924 жыл бұрын
One packet. Had I of not overlapped the upright foil then I would of had more left over to cover the square on the bottom.

Just ordered mine from tool station hopefully it goes well aha

How much insulation did you buy/size? Do you have a link to it? I've just got myself a Vegas, so looking at doing this too...Thanks!
@kevinjeffery7923 жыл бұрын
Brought for b&q pretty sure website is diy dot com insulation roll. Pretty sure measurement are in the video where I show the product. Just be sure not to overlap as much as I did so you have a nice piece left to do the bottom
@3dprintingbird5543 жыл бұрын
@@kevinjeffery792 Great, thanks. I saw it :) 1.25m x 8m...unfortunately, B&Q don't show it! My hunt continues...

We have a Cosy Spa, which is black on the outside, while the cover is also black on the outside with foil on the inside - all with good reason, as black absorbs heat and the foil reflects it. So why, may I ask, do you think it's a good idea to spend time and money spoiling the appearance of your spa by covering the outside with foil wrap, which will reflect any heat away from the tub, while the insulation will also stop any natural heat reaching the water?

Has it made a noticeable difference in keeping temperature
@kevinjeffery7924 жыл бұрын
Yes. I could switch it off at 40° and still 7-8hrs later it has only dropped a few degrees. Obviously it’s warmer time at the moment in this glorious weather.
@benc19272 жыл бұрын
Does it work?
@kevinjeffery7922 жыл бұрын
Yes I believe it does as do many others. There’s other ways to hold the heat, but for the cost outlay of buying the foil and then the time. This is an excellent budget fix
@user-Merovingian1980Ай бұрын
I would remove that from the lid the chemicals in the pool will react and give off s poison gas 😮
@kevinjeffery792Ай бұрын
It’s under the inflatable and works fine.
@catgarlo86302 жыл бұрын
Did this work? Do you still have the tub?
@kevinjeffery792 Жыл бұрын
Yes it kept it warm over night switched off. It’s a simple enough form of insulation. Warm enough that a top up of heat if needed

How much is you electricity bill go up using you hot tub
@kevinjeffery7923 жыл бұрын
I could say in pounds but it is a luxury item to have, we insulated it to save on cost of heating the tub. There is study’s available to be seen with regards to tub running costs
@stephentraynor49433 жыл бұрын
Did you have any issues with water temperature once tou did this ? I ve mine 2 weeks I've done this and it doesnt seem to heat up fully.
@kevinjeffery7923 жыл бұрын
How do you mean heat up fully? The foil is to insulate, the roll of the egg is to heat up.

@@kevinjeffery792 its all good now man. I just reset it.

DO NOT DO THIS ! I had this bright idea. Insulated the whole tub in foil insulation. My son then started complaining about electric shocks . Told him he was imaging it ( great parenting) until one evening I got buzzed getting in. It was only a light tingle and only when you had one hand or foot on the deck and one in the water or sitting in the tub and touching the deck ( mine is below ground with deck built over ) but definitely a shock. Could get the same light shock in several locations. Turned it off immediately. Friend is an electrical engineer and tested all electrics including the pump and found no issues . Read through the instructions and it has a section about not using within a certain distance of metal objects . Removed insulation and problem went away. I’ve no idea what was going on but I won’t risk it again.
@kevinjeffery7922 жыл бұрын
Glad you resolved your issue. Can’t imagine foil wrap caused the issue considering it’s between the cover and inner layer. I don’t believe at any point there is connection between live current as it’s literally touching two surfaces

Where did you get your cover from
@kevinjeffery7923 жыл бұрын
Which cover?

If you mean the canopy / gazebo then it was the range or B+m

Can see why you would do this for cost savings but the tub becomes an eye sore imo

How is it an eyesore? It looks exactly as it should when covers are on
