Strange...Whenever I hear "Embryonic Journey", I think of my mother! LOL She passed away last week after years of fighting cancer. She was a GREAT mother, and a wonderful person. Years ago, when I was working around the house, crankin' a tape of Jorma from My Father's Place on L.I., Mom asked "Who are you listening to? I really like it!" Being a classically trained violinist, she knew fine music. I made her copies of Jorma/Tuna tapes which she listened to until she left us. Love you Mom! .

This piece will pass on from one generation to the next for centuries to come, as long as there are stringed instruments.

Embryonic journey is without a doubt, one of my favorite guitar instrumentals ever. Being a guitar player myself, I have been trying to learn it for some time now, and it is just out of my reach reach. If I ever learn it, it will be a special day for me. I've heard a number of people perform it, but no one plays it like Jorma. Thank you for your song Jorma.

I liked Airplane as a kid. Then I heard Embryonic Journey on Surrealistic Pillow, and I knew that Jorma was so much more than what he was with the Airplane. Then I saw Tuna do a free concert at American University during the Rampage. Life has not been the same since.

The night I heard Embryonic Journey, & The Water Song was the night I decided to go from 6 strings to 4. It was one of the wisest decisions of my non existent musical career. Jamming to Hot Tuna in my basement was some of my best memories. Truth be told; The 1st time I ever pulled off the bass line to this with my buddy Greg on flat top, he mixed me my drinks for the rest of the night! 🤣🤣🤣❤️👍 Whatever skill I have, is entirely Jack Cassidy’s fault. Yorma escapes no blame either!! Thnx, Gentlemen. 🙏🙏

I get to see these guys Aug. 3 in Tampa. Psyched. They're one of the original Jam Bands.

I just got done listening to The Water Song which got me looking for Embryonic Journey, and lo and behold HOT TUNA again! When our oldest son was in high school, he needed some background music for a speech. I put Embryonic Journey to tape which he begrudgingly used. He got a reaction from his teacher, but his classmates didn't have a clue.

True. I also like 'Black Mountain Side' by Jimmy Page. A couple of Bert Jansch pieces stand out too.

it was funny as hell; got in with a guy l knew who always had these dubious press passes; you were allowed to stand in back or wherever there was an empty seat you could have that.. show was supposed to begin at eight.. and he and l also wanted (badly) some weed. (no one would 'spare a joint'). we were broke (typical!).. and the place was like freaking woodstock for weed up in the damn balcony.. always like that then. (some even were selling out of pound bags..! so .. no one got all weird that we were music free for a rather long time. you'd have loved it! this was a big old concert hall; just 2 floors..
