Just think Rolling Stone named 50 top bass players. Did not see Jack Cassidy! That is like making a list for top baskeball players. And you don't see Larry Birds name!

Heard these guys so many times back in the 70s - this riff just came into my head today, had to revisit. Would have been about 1974 they were playing at a college in Worcester, MA and a friend of mine had some connection, so we ended up literally sitting on the side of the stage leaning up against the amps, smoking fat ones, for a typical 4 or 5 hour Tuna show, crazy crowd, all good. Amazed I can still hear.

This was the 2nd time I saw HT. The 1st was down in Asbury. Casino Arena maybe? No seats, I remember that. Stood for 5 hours watching Jack's fingers fly. Told my bass teacher once that I thought Jack used to play with all four fingers. He said, no. It probably just looked like that. I don't know. When he's jamming it looks like even that pinky is involved.

I was age 15 when I decided that Jorma was the sexiest man alive. I went to as many Hot Tuna concerts as I could from 1975 until the band separated. The Tanglewood summer shows and the Tower Theatre in Philly seem to stand out. I loved the speakers and would always end up in front of them. I owe my hearing problem to that sound system lol. I met Jorma in 1981 at the Ritz in NYC at a Peter Tosh show and was at loss for words. I so miss the L and carefree commaraderie.

Jorma bitched "I don't know what kind of shithole place this is, but the management is talking about some kind of curfew or something! Then they continued to jam till after 1 AM when the Tower just turned on the lights and shutdown the sound system power! Guess the shows over!

Saw these guys at a broken church passing as a concert venue in 1977. Jorma was stoned out of his gourd but played immaculately. It was different in those days. Just saying.

amazing video ! first saw them in 1974 and was fortunate enough to see them with Little Feat in Montana 2023 - all in all , seen them about a dozen or so times . I know Jorma was elected to rock and roll hall of fame , but not sure Hot effin Tuna made it in which baffles me . Anyway , thankful I got to see them as much as I did - those were the days for sure . If you don't know Jorma , you don't know Jack !

Them boys have one hell of a historic past, Jefferson airplane, and many jams sessions with other great musicians, and this group, which was always my favorite one, they did, Hot Tuna.
