In this video I show trick I have been using for the past few years to keep my water cold much longer in the heat of the summer. No need to buy a fancy high dollar water bottle, with this tip you can make any bottle or canteen stay cool longer all for cheaper than buying one big name water bottle.
The bonus is there are many uses for this idea in hot and cold weather.
The following are links to the materials used for those having a hard time finding this stuff, these are affiliate links that earn me a commission at no cost to you.
Reflectix: amzn.to/44CBnhB
Foil Tape (any tape will do in a pinch): amzn.to/3rkuVxn
Budget windshield cover option... it is better to buy local on a clearance ... or here is a cheap one that will work: amzn.to/44cO9DH
My preferred water bottle, les algae growth over time... if ya know ya know: amzn.to/3PVyKDo

That's a nice touch having the thumbs up bobble there. It's great when guys on YT find a way to get that across without the usual boilerplate 'Remember to XX and YY!'

When I'm riding a bicycle I use another trick. I put some socks around my water bottle and keep them wet. Evaporation will keep the contents cool. The Egyptians did this already using porous vessels. The quality of the water on the outside of the bottle doesn't matter, as long as you keep it wet, it will function. When moving it works even better because of forced evaporation

Great tip, never used socks before! I have a few old canvas canteen covers that work similar.

Tip- Fill the water bottle half way. Freeze it before you go. The solid chunk will take much longer to melt than just ice.

Learned this from a postman with a walking route. He would freeze a half full gallon of water. Walked in the southwestern US desert.

Great idea. Keep the expensive vacuum bottles from getting wrecked. The reflectics is great stuff to make insulated pouches for stuff hot or cold.

Yep, I do this for my daily backpack every summer, it allows me to carry frozen groceries in a really hot weather without them thawing. For water I prefer using vacuum bottles though, they give more consistent results and keep water hot or cold for quite some time.

Smart idea!! Living in palm springs, you learn very quickly just how fast EVERYTHING will melt in a matter of minutes during about 7 months out of the year (we made it to 122°F one day 🥵). Ive got a couple useful sturdy sacks im gonna be lining tomorrow as extras for my car, as well as my mom and my managers ❤ thank you!!

I was skeptical when I bought this roll, but have used it for so many projects and different seasons feels like it paid for itself ha ha!

What about if you dont have a water bottle or something like that and you are in a emergency situation? Do you risk going close to water where it is the most dangeorus like in africa where there are crocodiles to get clay and try making a bottle and will you be able to boil water in it?
