That's a beautiful restoration. I remember these original Hotwheels, because that's what I played with as a child. My grandmother bought me a Skyshow Deora,which I still have (including the launch track segment). You got a fantastic finish on this one. That's the best finish I have yet seen on one of these models. Wonderful! 👍👍👍

Fun fact: the original Deora was the first HW car made into a real car that was designed by HW. It was the same builder of the Deora that also built many famous TV show hott rods like the Bat mobile, the munster’s family wagon, the Beverly Hillbillies family wagon and many more. Thanks, Brian. I've seen a few Spectraflame 'recipes' on KZbin that I've yet to try. I've also got some Tamiya clear colours that are pretty close, if you close one eye. In this case, the Createx Pearl in lime green was just about bang on with the original. Remember, I'm not a purist. I'm just trying to get these old cars back into circulation for a new generation of carpet racers! On the vacuum forming, I also have a machine, on cracks I put a piece of tape like your purple stuff, on the outside and inside of the crack it usually keeps from showing.

@@diecastflashback That sounds like a good workaround solution. Thanks for sharing that tip and I'll try it. Till now, I've used the vacuum forming machine to simply change yellow or blue glass to clear. I suspected a crack on the original might show through, as they do a pretty accurate replication. I've also got some plastic pellets that melt in hot water, to be used in forming a mold. I haven't tried it yet. Thinking it should work, making it from the inside, and then. being able to smooth out imperfections while it's still pliable. Lots to learn, and still experimenting! 🍁🤓
