I grew up in Inglewood in the mid to late 60's, as kids we would "dumpster dive" the Mattel trash bins and literally would bring home boxes of diecast rejects from these early days. We moved in 1970 and my parents made me throw them away, can't even imagine what they would be worth now!!!

I was born in 1960 and loved Matchbox cars and trucks. When Hot Wheels came out I never got another Matchbox. Hot Wheels were the bomb!

the slogan of Hot Wheels really suprised me, and knew that they really are the fastest metal cars in the world, and still are to this very day

I still love building race sets like the 1969- 1970's ones and racing these original Hot Wheels....even through my Super Charger Really don't collect them for the money Just never understood why these adults do that?

I remember going to church with my best friend on a Wednesday night once and we took Hot Wheels and rolled them in a pew the whole time. 🤣

My Splitten' Image was blue. I had The Red Baron too which was one of my faves as well as the Paddy Wagon.....can't forget Snake/Mongoose or the '39 coupe light blue with the power house.

My Splittin image was orange I think. I had the Paddy wagon but not a Red Barron. I had a green Beach bomb. Wish I still had them. I gave most of mine to my nephews in the 80's.

Loved learning about some of the history behind these classic designs. Need a hypothetical prototype of the Panda model!

If we had a Time Machine and went back to 1968 and bought ALL the Hot Wheels for about a dollar a piece, we would be billionaires today. The percentage increase in value of these is unreal.

Amen to that brother. I was 7 years old when they came out. I wish I still had all the ones my brother and I had. I would be rich.

You actually wouldn't. The market saturation would be too great and you would create and then pop a artificial bubble and the value would plummet until they were worthless. The reason they are so rare us because they were kids toys and they got played with, used up, run down, then thrown out or sent to Goodwill (yes there was Goodwills in the 1960s and 70s). When the cars with the rare variations were not made in large amounts to begin with, that reduces their pool significantly.

4:52 Those boxes that the matchbox cars came in look cool. Sadly kids didn't like those. shame really. Imagine Hot Wheels doing that? I would buy it no matter the design but the Matchbox boxes are simple

Interesting and good info. Thank you. However, there's way too much screen time showing the narrator, rather than the cars - the reason we watch it.
@eraj-u1u18 күн бұрын
I was about to make the same comment, I mean using almost the exact same words. Had to double check that I didn't already write it! Hard to watch the narrator when I want to see the cars!

i notice you looking at the wrong camera sometimes. what are we supposed to do with that? why do you want us to look at your ear? when they tell you they're going to do these wonky side shots, you should say "no, it looks lame". you could suggest a under nose angle, just as unnecessary.
@kevbruggeman339 ай бұрын
The camera angle from the side with out eyes on the camera was ditching a little annoying

So… 1969 and 1970 redlines are worthless?
@leeshepherd56698 ай бұрын
Youn know i have a lot of redline...I have decided to just race them ...I don't care about the worth as he describe them..Just want to race them have fun with them just like I did the first day I got them on a Christmas day in 1968-70's .. just love racing Redline on my original Hotwheel race sets.. So damn cool and fun watching them race..
