Good to see that the "ugly" white tyres still served a purpose; yeah the graphite collecting in the divots on the wheels showed up well, illustrated what you were getting across in the video!

YES, I didn't want to post my failure but I thought it was important for the "new guys" and help them a little. I am not sharing all my secrets just common tricks. Posted a 9 min vid of the 6 cars. No racing, just the finish line man. Please enjoy. The WRX cars are faster.

We might could have used a reminder on which grit levels of paper needed, unless that info belongs in a SCIF I can't say enough good about today's GTR races, really had me hoppin'!!

SCIF mode man. Just start with 600. The rest is up to them. Thanks for the comment.

Thank you. Im just a couple of days away from posting for my first race. this was informative and a healthy reminder that i need a higher grit than standard household paper.

Thank you. Yes, I now start with 600. Seems good, but was told to finish with 1000. I do not want to make slicks though. Seems to me 600 works well and a tiny bit of graphite sticks to the bottoms so...good enough I hope. So many things can go wrong though with the entire build. Best wishes on the build.

Cheers, yes, one of the great ways to enhance the wheels! Keep on dusting!! Sitting at the train station here, off to Sydney Harbour for a 4 day break/cruise. (Won't be on line much then)

so... to me... this makes the least sense. Are you measuring them after sanding to determine roundness, size and conformity of all wheels? It would seem to me that the wheels should be sanded to a uniform size for fronts and backs if different sizes or for all 4 if they are the same size... Also a big problem I see/feel is non-centered through holes. If you line up all 4 wheels on a shaft and slowly turn them, you can see/feel any wobble between them that isn't readily apparent when you spin one at a time...

WOW, I do not want to be that complicated but thanks for sharing.

Yes, there (sadly) is a wide variation of quality of wheels that go on Hot Wheels. Hence it is important to inspect/select/ reject wheels at the farming stage. Some form of races, is far more critical than others. All part of the challenge! Cheers

@@sstdiecastracing2372Yeah, I get that... just wondering what the routine is because I am noob trying to figure it out!

@@cutrockr-diecastracing2773Agreed... so hopefully during the "pre-sanding" phase there is some selection method or criteria used to find the best set... I mean other than just spinning on the axle?

Hey Joe and CutRockR, ya'll got me thinking. Yes, these are cheap castings and molds. 1st rule of carpentry is Nothing is Level and Nothing is Square. Taught to me by my Dad (RIP) as I grew up a carpenter. So, hear me out. I do the sanding last. Why? so they all level, round in their position to fit any defects in the chassis. This way, all tires fit in to make it the most level and even. Make sense or am I missing something I didn't think about. Thanks guys.
