Lolita Looking sweet and cute is not indictave of being very young or underage. Just look at Japan.. In America though, fathers associate very young *looking* girls to be too similar to their daughters and therefore question the propriety of expressing attraction. Siblings will do the same if their sister(s) are similar in youth and appearance. I think that is what's going on here, because we often make subconscious associations with a person's appearance and that of others we know.. For example I consider Ariana to be extremely similar in appearance to a young Jessica Alba, even in personality (when Jessica was in interviews or making video diaries).

From all the interviews I've seen, it seems like all the way up until she left nickelodeon she was pretending to be a lot more childish and innocent than she actually was BUT only in interviews. From the way she dressed, the hesitation to cuss, the exaggeratedly innocent talk, and the reluctance to defend herself or her beliefs in a way that wasn't unagreeable. Tbh it could've been Dan Schnider than tried to make her act younger and make sure she was the token "good girl" just like cat. When you watch videos of her outside the realm of press from this time, she wasn't much different than she is now.
