I was confused and disgusted by the play. I don't know if the experience would be different with a younger crowd or an audience of POC but I doubt it. I left with a feeling of ”WTF DID I JUST WATCH.” However, this interview provided me with a clearer understanding of the playwright. He is well versed in his craft and appears to be full of passion and purpose. I wish the interviewers saw the play before before bringing him on. I think they would have approached this interview with open eyes and asked questions pertaining to the play and Harris’ choices. Once they see it, they will have many questions. Hot97 should participate in giveaways to the play if the producers decide to have a POC only audience.

i think we had enough of the slave references already talk about the good that is of black people not always the slave part we get it no offense i just wanna hear about how we can better ourselves now.

Forgetting your history and pretending it didn't happen doesn't make us better... Understanding our slave history helps us understand what's happening now... talking about how Greta Martin Luther King does not stop oppression... Also learn your own history whatever this dude is writing about is not real African American history and is not what happened in the past

Ok but have you seen the play? Because I really don’t think you can form an opinion on something you’ve never seen. That would just be ignorant.

Classic example of using a black writer or producer or director to hide the racism and anti blackness of this play. Smh

The negative comments on here are really nasty! He's worked his ass off for this opportunity. The same things that some of you are accusing him of and arguing about, he's articulating it very clearly in this interview. Please unclog your ears and listen! And his sexuality is not making black men look weak or vulnerable! Check your insecurities at the door! Thank you! 🤬🤬🤬

This whole interview was factual and I will say after the first scene you could tell this play displayed every part or close to was is America how we see it . It’s funny as I was there after the first scene the demographic that was possibly the most uncomfortable was the demographic that is use to “ standard classic broadway “ I on the other hand love the shock factor , every aspect of it Made me feel like someone like me who thought out of the box in such an eclectic way , no other words but “Finally representation” 🥺👏🏽
