I'm afraid libertarianism won't help the US survive. it's going to collapse either way. the debt is simply too high.
@SamDustin0077
@SamDustin0077 4 жыл бұрын
@@inferno7181 debt is not the problem. almost 80% of the debt is owed to the American citizens anyways from bonds and securities with interests. So most of it just goes back to americans that invest in it. and the us government never missed a payment before so it's the safest form of investment since the government can alway print out more money as long as it doesn't cause hyperinflation.

And want to cut your grandmothers social security
@consortevideo
@consortevideo 6 жыл бұрын
Social security is a national program. It doesn't apply at the state level, as in this governor's race. Nationally, nobody would ever take away the benefits that older people are already receiving - that would be political suicide. However the program will go bankrupt in its present state and needs major reform. Generally, at the national level, a responsible solution would be to keep the system as-is for people who are already collecting, or who are about to collect. So you could cut it off at age 50 or 55, for example. For younger people, you refund all of their payments into the system, and terminate it. You then continue to reward people with deferred taxes on savings as an incentive for good behavior. This is already being done with 401k plans. Don't you want to have the freedom to decide how to spend your own money?
@Ky-tl8ps
@Ky-tl8ps 6 жыл бұрын
Dennis Consorte typical right wing talking points. im speaking to what libertarians and conservatives would like to do. Look at how poorly 401k plans perform compared to social security. Before we had social security 2/3rds of seniors were living in poverty. When republicans say "reform" that always means cuts i.e. Tax reform. A more progressive tax would solve the funding issue. They need to lift the cap or atleast raise it. Social security is the most favorable social program we have. Try to get rid of it and the people will riot. "Don't you want the freedom to decide how to spend your own money" that's a straw man.
@matthewwalker491
@matthewwalker491 6 жыл бұрын
Ky 718 We already have a progressive tax system. And social security does not alleviate senior poverty it merely prolongs it. Plus the fact that people are receiving more benefits than they actually paid in.

This was a well-conducted interview. They let him speak and challenged him enough. If you seen him elsewhere, Larry loves to build up steam, like he did here, so steering him to talk about his personal life for a few rather than riff on policy more was a wise move, which helped him. Near the end, he incorporated his life experience with his policy proposals. Nuts and bolts alone do not win elections, the personal does.

The Metro North charges $9 dollars just to go from White plains to Grand Central. Most the of the time the train is more than half empty. If they cut the price to $4 I'm sure they would double ridership. That's a huge increase in funds. I know I would use the metro north. If the MTA goes on strike, how about waving the tolls charges for commuters? and a income tax rebate for using ridesharing service and parking for commuters? and cover lost wages for the extended time it take to get to work?

"Yeah, but if we allow uber they'll price gouge." - *eyeroll* 1) Having an expensive option is better than no option 2) "Price gouging" just means more than you want to pay. If a good sells at a certain price, then its simply meeting demand. 3) You don't have to buy it, but people can charge whatever they want for their own services. They owe you nothing. 4) If Uber is morally culpable for offering an expensive service, then we are all even more morally culpable for offering no service at all, expensive or otherwise.

Dee Wash try again. It's amazing when people try to minimize the drug war to being about people getting high. Ending the drug war isn't one of the biggest issues of the day because I want to smoke, it's absolutely essential because of all the lives it has and continues to destroy. Entire communities are suffering and in shambles because of the immoral, and illegal war on drugs. But keep shaking the pom poms for Democrats who claim to want to end mass incarceration but keep making more stuff illegal.

Nah. Conservatives make more laws that take away our freedom. Libertarians take away those laws and allow us to succeed or fail based on our own merit

Omg, his MTA answer was some of the worst ideology I’ve ever heard to fix it, lmao

Your way is superior because the taxpayer's job is to fund a poorly-managed transportation system? You want us to fund it by using private trasnportation that you slap a tax on. MTA Bad? More money GOOD! Sound economics there pal

Jacob Matthew Brown literally having the MTA strike and shut down because he won’t give them money is some of the worst headfakes I’ve ever heard and is a good reason why maybe only 3% of NYers will vote for him. Cuomo can rest easy

The Three Pillars of Larry Sharpe’s Platform: ❖ Education: ➢ Free teachers to develop curriculum that focus on skills employers need. ➢ Introduce more options to education by exploring innovative alternatives like K-10 programs, vocational training, and more school choice. ➢ Allow communities to decide what works best in their school district. ❖ Economy: ➢ Cut unnecessary spending by reducing or eliminating unfunded mandates, which will allow the state to help struggling New Yorkers by cutting property taxes and eliminating income tax. ➢ Create real revenue raisers that are not tax based. Encourage innovation in business as the Marketer-in-Chief. ➢ Roll back regulations that stifle innovation and hurt small businesses. ❖ Criminal Justice: ➢ Give second chances and support to non-violent offenders who still have a chance to be productive members of society, thereby reducing prison populations. ➢ Lowering the prison populations will allow for more specialized rehabilitation through educational and vocational training, which can reduce recidivism. ➢ Allow Law Enforcement Officers to fight real crimes and help real victims by not enforcing laws that make criminals (like simple possession), in which there is no victim. In addition to these three platforms, Larry Sharpe and his team have researched and developed policies relating to agriculture, immigration, infrastructure, budget reform, energy, unions, pension, medicaid, and much more. All of these policies have one thing in common: Larry Sharpe wants to empower the people of New York State to be free and innovative, bringing growth to our communities and prosperity to our state.

Don’t let the “live and let live” social policies of libertarianism fool you. The vast majority of libertarians believe in huge tax cuts for the rich and privatization of the public sector. Sly little gateway into corporate feudalism.
