I have frizzy hair too, but at 55 years old have been fortunate enough not to have needed to colour yet. I have tried so many products to control the frizz that haven't really worked, so I gave up. I tried your methods just using a hair dryer today, with much better success. Thinking of transitioning to the Instyler. A lot more optimistic about conquering the frizz now. Thank you Angela!!!

I've had my InStyler for years. It's always in my rotation. I did a positive review on it years ago on my blog, and I still love it :) It's great for travel because for me, it takes the place of hot rollers, flat iron, and curling iron. My mom's broke after she dropped it and she bought another one the next day!

I love watching you get excited! I have an in styler too, I have naturally curly/wavy and frizzy hair. I don't even blow dry anymore, just wash at night and air dry and in the morning use this, its so nice!!! You do have to make sure the barrel is moving down the hair and not up the hair, there is a learning curve but once you know how to hold it on each side, it goes fast!!!

Noreen Leonard Yes, I thought it was weird that it was turning the wrong way… have to figure that out!

I've used this for many yrs. I have both wet to dry and dry hair..Its by far my favorite tool it takes out the frizz without leaving my hair flat..I find it works best when the barrel spins down with the hair shaft and not against it...

I've had this Instyler for years, I now have the newer one. Great to travel with, let your hair air dry or use the hotels dryer. You have only one tool to travel with that makes your hair amazing! Love mine.

Hi Angie! Make sure you always use the heat spray, as this tool severely damaged my hair over time. Also, weekly oil treatments AND deep conditioning is also very helpful. Not only to protect, but to replace shine and moisture we lose over time, so we don't get the dreaded "old lady" thin and frizzy look. Enjoy your new toy!

I purchased mine when they were first introduced years ago...I love it. Try using the barrel facing down (underneath) and hold it for just a couple of seconds right at the root...the more you use it the easier it will be and before long you won't have to do all the sectioning....you'll figure it out ! xo patti

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I bought the Instyler based on your review and it's a game changer! I first purchased the John Frieda brush based on your prior review. I like it, but there is no comparison. I then bought the Instyler. I do not have the skill or the patience to blow dry my hair. I've only used the Instyler a couple of times, and my hair looks like "salon" hair. It is so easy. And, it doesn't take long. I didn't watch the accompanying video - I just watched you. It does take a little practice to figure out the reverse image in the mirror. I haven't tried the curling part yet, but I will. BTW, my hair is just like your hair. I can't wait to try this in FL. Thanks again. PS. I use the Aveda smoothing cream that Marnie recommended - a gorgeous finish!

I have the newest model of the instyler which I ordered online: it comes with 2 of them. My order came with a large one and a small one for tighter curls. It's absolutely AMAZING!!! I love it so much! Best hot styling tool I've ever purchased! Celebrity stylists use it all the time. I'm so glad you're enjoying it! I giggled every time you saw your hair in the mirror...looked like an excited little girl opening up a new present. Lol 😉 This was a great first impressions video! 👍😊

ok..that's it, I'm getting an instyler today! My good friend has one and loves it but she has thick hair. She will never know the torture of being a teenager in the big haired 80's with thin hair that EVERY SINGLE curling iron made THE CRIMP. I was smiling like a fool so HAPPY for you when you got the swoop :) I totally understand the excitement. And those curls? No crimps? I'm on my way to Ulta!!! Thank you so much!!!! I'm so excited that hope exists.

I've had mine for a year. I kept going back and forth on it and finally buckled down and watched several videos. There is a lot you can do with this tool and I thoroughly I love it now. The barrel on top works way better for my thick but fine hair and smooths it much better. I just saw how to create volume at the crown and it was awesome. I make curls just by bending my wrist instead of the corkscrew curls but it's nice to have options.

I loved my Instyler for the first few weeks but then noticed that like all hot tools, it was really frying my hair if I wanted it to get the best results. Sadly I had to switch back to hot rollers. I have fine hair. Buy this from a store with a good return policy and really give it a run. I think people with really tough hair would love this in the long haul. I feel your excitement....please do a follow up in month or two. Love your videos Angie.

Thanks for doing this demo. I just started (this week) using a non-rotating one like this every day and it's really damaging my hair. Afraid this one would damage more. Love love love my instyler. It helps to have smaller sections and to make sure barrel is on the bottom. I have just learned how to curl using this tool. By the way, I also was sooo excited when my bangs curled back too-like way too excited!

Hey, Angie. I can totally relate to feeling un-coordinated while doing my hair! I feel like I'm good w/ makeup, but "all things hair" just set me off in a tizzy! I think I might give this guy a shot! I have hair pretty much like yours, & so now I hold some hope that I'll be able to do this too! Although, Inam a little worried about burning myself! Each time you were using your fingers to wrap the hair around the barrel, I was cringing! & saying to myself..."Oh Angie! don't burn yourself!" I'm glad you didn't! & pray I don't either!

You crack me up how excited you get with the curl, that would be me because I have used a curling iron or any tool like that in probably 30 years and my daughter was curling my hair. when I did it on my own she said you have 70's hair. I said no, mine didn't look this good back then. LOL! I want to curl my hair because it actually looks great the next day when I do. But, I need a lot of practice with it. My hair is like yours, I have a lot, but its fine and I have natural frizzy, curly hair. Ringlet curly, Ugggg! people think that's sounds great, but not when its on your own head and it frizzes and curls funking in the humidity. Thanks for the review, I may think about getting this long as I can use my coupon at Ulta for it. Thanks again Angie, love your videos.

Well this was great! I bought the Calista Tools "Perfecter" hair curler/heated brush. It has the no-burn-ever exterior, so less worry that way. But ~ after a few uses the teeth started to go missing, and the tool inevitably gets clogged with hair and there is no effective way to clear them out! Also, over time I find the tool less and less able to produce quality results! So imagine my chagrin when I saw this implement prominently displayed in my local drug store! It's the same price range as the one I bought from TV, and it is a more established name in the industry. So, I guess I need to bite the bullet and cough up another $100 to buy this one, too! I also have longish, fine and hard to curl hair, so I feel optimistic now that I too should be able to get my hair to "look normal!" Many thanks!

The barrel has to be turning away from your scalp when you curl your hair not the opposite way. The hair should curl around the barrel not around the brush part. That part is very confusing and that's why I don't use it that much. It's the rotation of the barrel that confuses me when I use my left hand as well
