Hi! I hope this is the eyeshadow tutorial you've been looking for with lots of close-ups and detail. One thing I forgot to say is I'm only using Matte shadows for this basic everyday look. If you want to add a shimmer or satin finish it would go on the lower moveable lid. Have a great day! xo ~angie

OMG! You are heaven-sent! I'm 35 and my eyelids have started creasing. I watched all of the younger women put on eyeshadow, but I kept getting the issue with the darker shade starting to build up in the creasing! The way you showed how to apply the shadow on the movable lid is a game-changer! Also, I'm an RN, and the way you described the anatomy of shadow placement really helped!!

I have watched dozens of beginner how to eyeshadow videos. This one is the best. Most videos show the instructor applying the product. You see the technique but you have no application motion memory to guide you as you apply the product. This video is as close to an in person training session as you will get. She slowly shows you in close up how to apply the product. Knowing exactly how to apply the right color with the right pressure with the correct brush is what most of use beginners need. One tip I learned from a photographer is to take a selfi of your face when you have put on your eyeshadow. Looking at the picture will give you a better sense of how you will look to others. And you want to look good in pictures so you need to make sure you have enough product applied. I am not use to eyeshadow so I am a bit timid and tend to not apply enough. Looking at a picture gives me a reference to go by to judge if I need to go over an area and darken or lighten it.

Very thankful for this detailed video. I am 54 and have never worn eye shadow. In the last few weeks I have been a true windshield washer user on the lid LOL I was also using a smudge shirt brush for the crease. I can see how customizing a palette would be beneficial. I bought 2 tarte tartlettes and will only use 4 colors or so. My only complaint is with many of these videos that are a few years old and the links are no longer valid or available. Otherwise amazing tips!!

*Hello! My name is My Face Is A Wrinkled Stretchy Hot Mess.* Thank you for starting these videos up again! Like you, I didn’t wear or get interested in makeup until 50 and that is 100% KZbin/Instagrams fault! Plus, my old skin seniority finally got me the coveted 3day/72hr shift in the ER. Now I have 4 days off every week, including that thing everyone else has been calling “the weekend” since I was 15. I may trip and fall into an actual life now! I always wore one thing: SPF and on a special occasion I added mascara. As you can see in my photo (dark hair/black tee) now I wear gallons of moisturizers and serums at night/mornings. Days off I wear dark brown mascara, under my eyes a spot of concealer that you recommended which I LOVE and blush/bronze/contour (it’s placed wrong and I even use any leftover on the brush on my born with hooded eyelids). No powder, tinted things or foundation because, well-foundation is very scary! I look forward to seeing many more of these makeup tutorials, specifically taking us deeper into good products and how-to eyeshadow. I would love a “where does it go? Highlighter, blush, bronze, contour for sassy old skin” video. Thank you so very much for taking your valuable time to teach us!! I’m very appreciative! And please, if you have any affiliate links, codes, even to clothing, merchandise, or anything at all that will give you a little in your wallet, tell us so we can show our appreciation!

Thank you for being so detailed for our age group skin type, that some of us aren't experienced enough to know how to use it/not use it and that our eye sight isn't as it used to be. Wow your skin is so beautiful...regardless of your age (I too am 59 this year.) Thank you also for being so open with your skin care routine & products, it's all so helpful. There are many things I am going to begin using, stop using or altering my application. I haven't found a decent sunscreen, so I will be looking into what you are using. It pulls double duty with the sunscreen & it does a fantastic job of keeping my shadows in place all day long. My eye makeup literally looks the same as when I put it on, 12 hours later. I’m 71 and have crepey droopy eyelids. I have a lot of trouble with eyeshadow so I have switched to cream eyeshadow sticks and love the results. Would love to see you do a tutorial with cream eyeshadow sticks. Love your videos

What brand of cream shadow do you use that stays on well and does not crease? (I have not found one that doesn't crease and smudge)

Deplor AbleDixie I use Mac cream shadow in painterly as a base. I use Bobbi Brown cream sticks but I also use Ulta’s cream sticks. I have no creasing and it lasts all day. However I have dry skin, so creasing is not a big issue for me if I use a base.

@@dianaavitabile Thanks for bringing this up. I'm the same age and wondered if cream shadows would be a good fit for me too. I'd love for Angie to do a tutorial with cream shadows too.

Pat Mear the one thing I found was the higher end brands are easier to blend for me. I do try some of the drugstore cream sticks but find Mac and Bobbi Brown really blend well. Even through they cost more they are very pigmented and you use less.

This is a great video. I’m a retired cosmetologist and concur with your ideas here. What a sweet and kind gift for us gals over 50. I have a tip to add which I learned in make up school. We always want to use our RING finger for any application on and around our eye area. It is the weakest finger on our hand. The use of the fore and middle fingers (the two strongest fingers) for any eye application can, and will, over time, cause more pulling resulting in more lines and wrinkles. I have my favorites and I do not sell or receive any perks from them: Mary Kay has a brush set that contains all the brush styles mentioned as well as all the products and very similar colors you used. I like being able to go to one place for all products. Hopefully that was not an inappropriate comment for this post. I would also like to thank you for the zoom meeting video, I really needed that one. Fabulous ideas!

You inspire me to take better care of my skin and to be patient while waiting for results. Thank you for putting out these videos, I enjoy each and every one!

Just found your channel last evening and I’m so happy I did. Just as you said in the video, I grew up in the 70’s & 80’s and never dabbled in makeup. I followed your directions to the letter and found out something’s. I never noticed how loose and crepey my eyelids are. Keeping it simple with just the two shades as you suggested worked perfectly. I’m literally amazed with the results. Your step by step breakdown was exactly what I needed to see I’ve not been placing the color high enough on the hooded part of my eyelid. Once you explained that....💡. What a difference. Thank you and I’m planning a binge watch of your channel to catch up.

So! Helpful! I have literally *never* liked the way I look with eye shadow because I mostly just slap it on willy-nilly. 🤣🤣 Thank you for such a thorough explanation!

This is so helpful! I would have liked to see more instructions on your eyeliner. Do you line the lid and the waterline? What about your bottom lashes? Just mascara? Thank you for taking the time to show us "newbies"!

Hi Angie, I love these shorter tutorials for non-twenty year olds :) Thank you for being very detailed and getting up close with the camera. How do you keep lipstick from drying out your lips throughout the day?

Thanks for this series! I started wearing makeup regularly in my late 50s, having not worn any since the early 1980s. I find a little makeup makes my face look better. I've stayed away from eye shadow, as my eyes are an unusual shape (large lid, low eyebrow) and most "young woman" techniques don't work for me. I think this will ... off to experiment!

Angie GREAT GREAT Tutorial. Just what us beginners need. I hope that eventually (I believe you do in "Eyeshadow Video Folder") I'll be able to move on to the more advanced techniques and more colors. This will be a tremendous help to my make up scheme starting tomorrow morning. Thank You Soooo Much! -Juliette

Thank you for this back to basics video! I too grew up in the 70's and didn't do much makeup. It feels like overnight my eyes developed extra skin on the lids that shadow just wants to skip over, I'm going to use this brush move today. I just started using the colour science 3in1 a week ago, it really does make a difference.
