Morning of the Earth Moments

On multiple cusps of surfing's seismic shifts, Morning of the Earth captured the move to a new age of shorter performance surfing. A shift that had not yet forgotten style, grace, or harmony. Sorry to say I didn't appreciate the genius of T. Fitz in '72. He was far too advanced for my limited understanding. Looking again, he is among my favorite surfers of that period. So committed, on edge, creative, and stylish. Best style. Not a learned affectation of standing tall and doing nothing at all, but moving with the wave. Only meant him once. In 1973 at his shop. He had a grinder in his hand and I told him his boards were beautiful, which I only half believed at the time. He smiled and said, "We have fun."
