Here is a guy who composed one of the most beautiful American song of all time _(in my opinion)_ . A song played by millions of people around the world non-stop for 39 years and still defying the test of time , and still he displays such humbleness and always that eternal smile and human quality. Where would the Eagles be without a song like _Hotel California_ ? Well maybe just a another Rock'n'roll band with minimum popularity with songs like _Take it easy_, _I can't tell you why_, etc...
@OldSchoolLad9 жыл бұрын
+brahim119 without Hotel California, they can't even be classified as Rock, just a country band. that's how important is Don Felder to The Eagles.
@tylerbryanhead9 жыл бұрын
They'd still be a country band
@brahim1199 жыл бұрын
+OldSchoolLad I do like country bands and country music. Certainly the Eagles have done a lot of hard work and their music is very pleasant to hear, but, but, but, Don Feller was truly the *Cherry* on the cake, the *Crown* on the _Eagle's_ head.
@MultiEviscerator8 жыл бұрын
Brahim - While I agree with your sentiment as well as with OldSchool, the Eagles were still great and talented prior to this one song. I also agree with OldSchool that without Felder and then Walsh, the Eagles were a country band with a little R&R at best. Felder came on the scene and added the flair and harder edge they needed to make a transition to R&R. Many people don't realize (because he is not credited), but he wrote a decent amount of the musical score for "One of These Nights". The haunting intro along with guitar riffs were Felder's. As a matter of fact, OOTN started out as a piano based song, and Felder had them change it to a guitar driven song. That combined with him saying a lyrical change was needed from "daughter of God" to "angel in white" should have gotten him credit on the song. Less was contributed by Frey & Henley on some songs they got credit for. However Felder was fairly new, and thought it was a team effort, hence he didn't demand credit. Anyway, Felder and then Walsh were both the reason the Eagles went from a talented country band that played a little rock, to a legit R&R band. Without them, the Eagles would not have soared to the heights that they did.
@scrimmy453 жыл бұрын
He did the intro only. The rest was a joint effort. Henley wrote all of the lyrics.

Felder is truly a legend, on one level with Clapton, Knopfler etc - this eagles docu on Netflix made me really angry. Since i watched it, including the unbearable arrogance, degradation and pee on from henley and Frey speaking about Felders work and songwriting with the eagles, i'm even more a Fan of Don Felder. The asholes were Don H. and Frey and not Felder. His influence on the eagles was massive and to minimize it in that manner ist just so uncool and petty... His noble and clean guitar work is so full of epic talent, i just love him

Frey and Henley did not serve themselves well professionally by bad mouthing Don Felder! I agree that Frey was an abusive asshole and Henley just as much of an asshole that just followed along with Frey and didn't intervene! Most of the pundits and many fans like myself are on Felder's side! Besides ,the toxic and bitter attitude that Frey had during most of his Eagles career towards different fellow band members, obviously didn't help Frey's health and longevity! He's now gone for good and a higher power has already/will hold him to account for any/all of his ruthless behavior! In the mean time Don Felder is flourishing, healthy, wealthy and seems to be very happy. Who's the real winner here?!!

Great acoustic version. I honestly think it really bothered Henley and Frey that their many other fine songs were kind of eclipsed by this masterpiece (which, though they wrote most of the lyrics, it's really the guitar work that drives it). The bands where all the members kept their egos in check were the ones that lasted.
