The guitar solo of Hotel California by the Eagles. Learn how to play every detail in this lesson tutorial.
My online courses: lessons.albertolombardi.com
This is part one as played by Don Felder, links to part 2 / 3 down here ⬇⬇⬇
Part 2 is available here : • HOTEL CALIFORNIA SOLO ...
Part 3 is available here : • HOTEL CALIFORNIA SOLO ...
This is the first part in deconstructing the guitar solo of the album version for the Eagles Hotel California. Despite having already a bucketload of tutorials on KZbin I think there is a few misconceptions to address, especially concerning the album version. Even Felder and Walsh have changed the solos quite a bit during years of live playing, but the recorded version remains a masterpiece full of nuances.

Finally got it. I´ve been trying to play this part correct since 1978 - with poor luck. Now I have the bricks to build it and all I need to do is practice - which is the easy part, when you know what to do. So thanks A LOT!

Man I played guitar for 6 years before I got married and had kids. I was in a couple bands, played a few bars etc, but I could only ever play rythem. To watch a tutorial like this wouldn't help me much, as I just couldn't seem to wrap my mind around it. Fast forward 7 years and my babies are getting older leaving me some free time to play and it's like I'm a whole different person watching this. It seems laughable that I couldn't chew this before but now it seems totally digestible. I'm glad I kept guitar in mind on the back burner all this time.

This is a great tutorial. Really cleared up a few parts I was doing incorrectly. I knew it was wrong but couldn’t figure out what it was till now. Your teaching of this was spot on. I will now be able to correct my problems and make it sound just right. This solo is epic and may be my all time favorite. Just like the song you know what it is in the first 4 notes. Very recognizable by anyone who listened to classic rock. I am subscribed to your channel now to see more great lessons. Thanks

rarely does anyone play this with the backing track because it's easy to rush the tempo. I consider this to be more advanced due to the need to play in the pocket and even behind tempo in one section while managing bending precisely and with style. Otherwise great tone you have and stressing the ghost notes and nuances with the bends.

Ciao Alberto! Once again 🌟, you've hit on, & have shared one of my few, all time favorite, songs . . . some of them I've actually learned, or worked on: like this one (Ha-Ha-Ha 🤡!). This is the last song I worked on. I've got all the chords, both the weird inversions (some CAGED, some piano [I suspect {?}]) & all their more everyday shapes, & maybe 1/3rd of the 1st lead. Picking's no issue. I had a 1954 Custom "Les Paul" once, too 😏. THANK YOU for your 😇 generosity in sharing your insights with the world!!!!! I know you've probably got better things to do, & you may be running behind on 😂 ! Kind regards, enjoy your upcoming gig, & we'll all wait in "heated anticipation" for the next installment of this "Masterclass" (including Dummies like me - Ha-Ha-Ha!). 😏 !

@@albertolombardimusic Yep. paid $400. for it in 1969 / 1970. That would be around $2,989.75 today. It had the lowest / best action I've ever played, with a "Fretless Wonder" neck (it had frets, the action was so low it was just called that, as far as I know). Around 1983s I had to let it go, so I sold it on consignment through a local vintage instrument dealer, who sold it to a Japanese buyer. I think I got about $3,500. for it, which would be around $9,639.41 today. Who truly owns anything, . . . really. At best we can only hope to be well intentioned care takers. I have fond memories of it, but I don't miss it. The pickups were terrible & it weighed a ton, & at $2-3K+ one could easily get a better guitar now-a-days, like a "PRS 'Paul's Guitar' or something with a whammy bar." 😊 . Kind regards!

ohhhhh yeahhhhh. idk how many times Ive heard this tasty jam over the years but it is a perfect piece of music front to back. Its a master class in songwriting and melody across the board. They somehow used up the perfect amount of sonic space. Every note from every instrument(vocals included) is perfect and in its rightful place. If you were to take anything out of the mix it would lose too much but also cant be improved upon by adding more. Chefs kiss* That being said…From my first listen in 6th grade to my eventual last, that opening lick at 3:00, that Segway’s into the solo is the probably my favorite guitar lick of all time….although there are “a few” more from this song that could also take that honor lol. Fuck yeah. You killed it btw

@@albertolombardimusic how do you get that harmonic backdrop to the notes you are playing? It sounds like a synth. Is it one, or is it a pedal? What I like about it is that it gives the solo nice accompaniment. Gives it a polished result.
