Haha that's funny, I'm roughly 10 minutes from that location. Same family has owned it for decades. It was a comfort inn until roughly 10 years ago. They seem to do solid business.

Looks acceptable to me, especially with travel prices high and climbing higher like people are able and willing to pay a premium for simple, clean lodging.

If the mattress was in much better condition, it seems like a reasonable budget hotel. Yes, there's lots of quirks, but nothing that's a make-or-break issue. But even at a cheap hotel, I still want a clean, comfortable bed, and that mattress doesn't really pass that test. I'd take it over sleeping in a car or on an airport floor, but that's about it.

I like the modern interior! Very nice for an old school quality inn

I would think that the part with the interior corridors would be later construction. Interior corridors were almost unheard of at motels until the last 20 years or so.

It’s hard to tell without seeing the exterior of that building, but I wonder if this building originally had exterior room entrances and it was converted. In a typical layout of that kind of room, there would be a vanity across the wall where the door is. Then the toilet/bath would be off in the separate room. That little pedestal sink looks like a more recent addition. Looking at the exterior wall, the PTAC would be under the window and the door would be to the right. The only thing that’s hard to explain is where the interior hallway came from. There’s usually a corridor between the rooms on the inside, used for maintenance of the plumbing, but I don’t know if that would be wide enough to make a normal hall.

@@504RoadTrips the Pittsfield MA econolodge is similar. while in reception i noticed a wall blocking what may have been an interior hallway. room are entered from the outside now.

@@SamSitar that’s especially unusual to go from an inside hallway to outside entrances. Near my office is what used to be a Holiday Inn. It is a huge motel, one of the very early Holiday Inns. It was always very nice and well maintained. At some point, about 20 years ago, Holiday Inn decided to get away from the “motel” image and either started converting, or dumping all of their properties with exterior doors. It became a Clarion, then something else, and then a half and half Days/Knights Inn. Never had much above a 10% occupancy after Holiday Inn got rid of it. Now, it’s been sitting completely abandoned, in a prime location for about 7 years. Nobody seems to want it. It’s too large and expensive to get bought by an unscrupulous hotelier and made into a cheap flophouse. And apparently, it can’t easily be converted to inside hallways. It probably wouldn’t be cost effective to bulldoze the whole thing and start over. There are codes preventing buildings over two floors, so that probably eliminates the chance of one of the big names coming in and putting up something nice.

My list of hotels that are in the "only when absolutely necessary": Quality Inn, Super 8 "Never EVER even think about it": Ramada, Wyndham Garden, Travelodge, Wyndham (the Ramada of luxury properties), Roadway Inn, Motel 6, Days Inn, ABVI, Hawthorn Suites

There's a decent numbers of decent hotels that you'd discount with your "never ever" list. I had a decent stay at Wyndham last night and it was the best value for what I wanted (including points.) Sure, it's not "luxury," but it was no worse than a Doubletree or Hilton that has fallen behind on the remodel schedule, and at least priced accordingly (instead of Hilton which likes to charge higher prices for the brand even if the hotel is quite mediocre.) Much better to read reviews and make a judgement than to write off certain brands entirely.

@@jeb4198 Point taken but with Marriott properties especially and also with Hilton you probably stand an 80% plus chance of having something acceptable. With Wyndham properties I'd say that goes down to 50% if not lower. Just my opinion and yours may be different. Appreciate the conversation regardless.

One thing I noticed is that smoke alarm on the ceiling looks way too old. It has that old yellow color so that thing is probably not to code by now.

Excellent hotel tour Jacob though this place definitely needs a lot of help. Just a thought, judging by where the stain is on the bed, I’d like to think that someone maybe had a drink on the night stand and it got knocked over, still unacceptable though!😸

Looks clean and spacious for an overnight stay. My only concern is "how did you sleep?". Like were the pillows nice? The bed comfy? I'm not at a budget hotel for a long stay so my concern is how I sleep

Why would they put the circuit breaker in a place that's easily accessible and anyone could turn off the power? HUGE safety issue there. Another Quality Inn where the "Quality" is questionable. Great review as always.

I would give it a 2 out of 5. Carpet around the sink is a breeding ground for mold. That stain on the mattress looks like blood. At least no sign of bedbugs. That bathroom -- good grief. Light fixture needs to be attended to, potential fire hazard. The thing with "airport" hotels is the average guest stay is 1 - 2 nights. This is where the airline sends you to when your flight is cancelled. I wouldn't be happy here.

If you paid half what was listed on the placard then it is acceptable, any more than that and it starts to move into the unacceptable range.

Hoo boy, where to start with this one. Overall, it's a pass, but just barely. Now for the criticisms. First, the sink (get rid of the carpet around it). Second is that grungy bed, time to replace it (I'd be sleeping on the other one, who knows what that stain is). Although I will give a thumbs up for the brick wall. Still, I'd go elsewhere unless this was the only viable option.

Shocking they didn’t flip the bed to have that nasty stain at the bottom. It’s not like they didn’t see it. Hopefully you weren’t sharing and had no choice but to use this bed.

1.5 out of 5. I’d be very happy to check out and not return. Rather shabby considering you’re paying top dollar to be near the airport.

Seems like a typical Quality Inn. The quality in the name is an ironic pun. I will stay at Comfort inn if it is fairly new but my days of Quality Inns are over. Too many problems. Staying in a cheap hotel is too expensive in the long run.
