If the room looks like that and is $80/night or less, then customers should count themselves lucky. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with that room! Keep up the good work, Jacob!

Rosen Properties always amaze me with the overall cleanliness and outstanding maintenance they provide for the rates they charge. Great guest staff as well, every time, in my experience.

For the price you mentioned that is a pretty clean and nice room.

As someone local to Orlando Rosen is a name I know. Harris Rosen the founder and still CEO does a lot of philanthropy work in the area and has a Hospitality management school in his name. With how big his local hotel empire he still works in his converted room office that is at the original property off Sand Lake and I Drive that he has owned since 1974.

Love your hotel reviews as always. Very nice room for the price and I like how they really got everything to fit like the Microwave and fridge in the bathroom except that table and 2 chairs is a bit silly but nice of them to add more furniture. I think most hotels have a desk chair and a soft seat so there are 2 sitting options but went for the table and 2 chairs instead of the sofa seat, maybe a second desk chair would be better.

Did a little research. I see some notices in the newspapers for a fictitious name notice from 1975 that calls this location the International Inn. A Mr. Rosen is indicated as being involved. I believe it opened in 1973 as The Latham Inn. In 1974 it was sold and the name changed to the Hotel Solage International.

Mr Rosen used to have it branded as a Rodeway, but he’s owned the property for decades. He just decided to re-brand it with his own name around 2009 and renovate it.

So I noticed a few things that may (or may not) be true... 1. I bet this property was once upon a time two different properties that Rosen purchased and combined, or they purchased the smaller property and built the building next to it. 2. The furniture is nice, but it probably was purchased wholesale from another local hotel. Nothing wrong with that, especially since they seem to be buying nice furniture; it just looks a little dated. 3. The climate control being off tells me that they probably instruct housekeeping to turn off the units when they clean a room. In some climates they can get away with that, but Florida seems like a stretch since nobody wants to walk into a hot hotel room. Hopefully they don't expect their housekeepers to turn the climate control off before they clean the room. 4. I've seen the 'flat as a fitted' sheet at least once, and as long as they can fold it in, I don't personally mind. It's probably easier to inventory (no two stacks), easier to order, they last longer (no elastic to wear out) and they might even be cheaper. I really like their consistency, and they seem to be making repairs and updates in a very mindful way. Some of these improvements don't cost a lot of money, but improve the experience so much and it's nice to see someone actually thinking about that.

Some good observations. Just to add in a few things I know from my limited research/experiences at Rosen properties: 1. I’m fairly certain Mr Rosen purchased the high rise tower and built the building I was in next to it. The architecture is identical to several of his other hotels in the area. He’s owned the property for a long time… he just used to have it branded as a Rodeway Inn. 2. I think they bought the furniture new around 2009 when they re-branded as an independent hotel. It’s the same stuff in their other budget properties which total around 2-3000 rooms. Way too much to get at auction from another place unless a whole chain liquidated. 3. I don’t remember this being an issue at the other Rosens I stayed at so I guess it’s either a fluke or a policy at this specific property.
