Looking back, the only good thing that came out of this tragedy is that Roger's friend ultimately saved his life because his blood was all over Roger. In the dark, the attackers likely thought they got Roger too. Still no child should have to lose their friend like that.

The genocidal govt had just launched a program to exterminate the entire Tutsi population, regardless of age - or any other consideration. Yes, it’s monstrous but that had been the nature of that beast all along for several decades.
