I watch this movie like a thousand times, and until this day i still fill sad for all the people who die in Rwanda. I also discover that some HUTUS didnt want to participate in the slaughter against the TUTSI because they have friends who were Tutsi. But those who refuse to co-operate they get killed even if they were HUTU. I saw the history of how the belgans divide the entire nation but in my opinion dividing the nation in two groups of people by another country is a risk.

Isn’t the footage that Joaquin Phoenix’s character gets real actual footage from the genocide? My human geography teacher showed this to class and said that it was actually taken at the time.
@sumyunggai6500 Жыл бұрын
I think I know what you're talking about, but it could be the one in the movie was a reenactment. There is a real news footage that had a similar appearance in setting but it was a lot more grisly because I remember it showed one of the victims being decapitated by the killers in a single swing while they were on their knees. It was really horrible, even if it was from afar.
@Tipsandtricksforpros Жыл бұрын
I mean this is a vague insinuation of footage of the real genocide As you see a woman hit with what seems to be a blunt object of some sort, highlights how dull the blades used were to carry out the massacres. How cheap the weapons were and how improvised they were as well

They're not supposed to shoot unless fired upon. 270 UN peacekeepers can't stop 100,000 militia. Firing first would probably cause them to storm the hotel and literally hack everyone to pieces.

@drakeloki42143 жыл бұрын
@@raphaelostrowski6336 probably because people feel that there shouldn't be nothing stopping a soldier from responding with lethal force after witnessing innocent people being cut down or seeing there own fellow soldiers being killed. Hell couple of decades before Rwanda Mad Jack Churchill a WW2 veteran was in a situation in the middle east O think as apart of the U. N. forces where he was told not to respond to a crazed group of murderers killing innocent people and he said f that and saved I think hundreds of people from a hospital who would have otherwise been gunned down by the militia group. Think he got a medal for that too.

@@drakeloki4214 Great, and who you blame then, when it backfires, or it turns out, that soldiers misread the situation and killed some innocent people? What then? There are rules exactly for that, so there is no vigilantes in the UN, going rambo.

@banwaita67238 ай бұрын
The French did intervene, on behalf of those **committing** the genocide. They armed and supplied the Hutus who were committing these atrocities. It is “their civil war” insofar as it occurs in their country; if you trace the roots and sociopolitical background of the strifes and tensions, it all goes back to problems caused by colonizers.
