Roy Clark could play anything with strings. He was one of a kind. You're pretty good, yourself! Check out Roy's Malaguena from a t.v. show, The Odd Couple.

Roy is the best to do it on any side of any pond. Kills me how he rarely enters such conversations. People think of him as a banjo player. If it had strings he was awesome

Hey you followed right along Erik-Oskar....good playing and your guitar has a pure/clean sound. Very resonant and crisp. Ol Roy Clark was one of a kind self-taught and brilliant on several instruments.

Roy also played Banjo and Mandolin that is where his technique comes from. Oh, he also played the Fiddle and just about anything with strings.

The "12th Street Rag" was composed by Euday L. Boman in 1897!!!

Good stuff sir! On the subject of what year this was, the Fender Jaguar he’s playing debuted in 1962, and I believe color TV in the USA was 1964 or 1965….. that may not be right. At any rate, I’d guess this was early to mid 1960’s…. Somebody can correct me if I’m wrong.

On a side note . This is an old ragtime piece of music written for the piano. It sounds good, but better when played on a guitar

The twelveth st rag was a ragtime jazz composition from the early 1914? Sheet music available but Roy Clark was self taught. Not sure if he could read music.

Hey Erik, Thought so..I just retired from playing Musical Theater and stage shows after playing out for over 40 years. I'm no stranger to "figuring things out under all conditions like Key Changes ,editing my charts on the fly and putting up with insane music directors and a full schedule. I can spot another very experienced musician a mile away You have the chops, so if a good position comes along GRAB it! *cheers*@@hotingrock

Yes he figured it out but I do believe he's been listening to Roy Clark for some time trying to mimic him . Can't convince me this was his first time listening he's to good and proves he can keep up with him .

To make it easier to pronounce twelfth and fifth, most Americans that I know treat the f before the th as silent, so that it sounds like "twelth" or "fith". "Fth" is awkward off of the tongue.

Roy's big regret was never having learned to read music. He played by ear and almost certainly had perfect pitch.

Really great . No offence but makes you see how great Roy was. Your hitting the notes but not the way he does. So many neuances so clear so musical But for of the cuff pretty amazing. You would need a ton of practice to make it come to life like he does. But I'm pretty shure you know this. Now make funny faces and tap dance lol.
