Hi, I'm enjoying this video series, what a great introduction to a sort of cryptic creative process! It looks like the whole remainder of the playlist is hidden. Will they be back, or are they uploaded somewhere else I could find them? Thanks!

Hey thank you! The other videos are available on my Patreon (www.patreon.com/Gruber99?filters[tag]=MilkyTracker%20Tutorial) I think there are 10(ish) more videos that you can access there.

Hi! Thank you! And yes! All the full length videos are available on Patreon. I used to make available "PREVIEW" videos, and make them public so people knew they existed. Those are the ones included in the playlist. But I got some feedback that this was deceptive. So I took down all the preview videos, but forgot to remove them from the playlist. At least, that's what I think is happening.

Where's the rest of the tutorials? If it's on patreon, then the course ends for me here.

How do you bulk change the octave of the notes after they are placed? I have a pattern where I want to shift every note up one octave, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it without just transposing the notes bit by bit up or down until the right octave its hit, but that seems really slow and cumbersome. The only information about octaves in the manual is literally "F1-F8", but it doesn't say how to use it with any sort of context.

As far as I know, there's no "octave transpose" button. There are two ways I would transpose up/down an octave. One is to select the notes I want to transpose, then use alt-F2, or alt-F1 to transpose the notes by step, times twelve. (I've gotten pretty fast at counting this 12 times lol). Another way is to use the transpose menu (Ctrl-T). Here you have more control over what you're transposing and by how much.

@@Gruber_Music Thanks for the reply. I spent about 2 hours looking for an octave transpose function, and I'm surprised there isn't one. Guess I'll have to get used to doing it step by step.

Is there a hotkey to change which pattern you're on? I know one must exist but I cannot find what it is
@Gruber_Music4 жыл бұрын
I don't think there is no :( The quickest way to change patterns is to push "END" and the down arrow. (for this to working pattern wrapping has to be off)

How would you select and cut out every other note in a channel?
@Gruber_Music4 жыл бұрын
Probably using a combination of "delete" and using the "Add" value at the top of the UI
@sanjacobs62614 жыл бұрын
@@Gruber_Music Yeah, that'll delete it, but how would you then paste that back in to another channel?
@Gruber_Music4 жыл бұрын
@@sanjacobs6261 Hm, sounds like maybe you'd have to copy/paste the contents of one channel into another, then go through both channels with "delete" and the ADD value.

Protip: Change the buffer size to something like 128/256 instead of 1024 for lower latency

Shift+Arrow Keys doesn't do anything, Shift+Alt+Arrow Keys selects stuff. But then Ctrl+C doesn't do anything. How do I actually copy paste stuff?
@blenderpanzi3 жыл бұрын
Oh, got it. I had to change to MilkyTracker edit mode in Config -> Misc.

how to remap instruments from a single channel, instead of all instances of that instrument?
@Gruber_Music5 жыл бұрын
Happy to help, but not I fully understand your question. Do you mean “Instrument Remapping?” If you want to change say, instrument 01 to instrument 02, you use instrument mapping to change all instances of 01 in a track, pattern, song, or selected block to 02. You can find the instrument mapper under Adv. Edit -> Remap Ins

Tutorial is really appreciated but in the first 60 seconds all you do is repeating in 30 different versions "this is about hotkeys". We know this is about hotkeys, really no need to repeat that like 30 times.
@Gruber_Music Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I tried to make it humours how much I emphasize hotkeys, so I agree it's repetitive, but still stand by my decision to emphasize them. When I first learned MilkyTracker, I didn't appreciate how important hotkeys are. Overtime, I realized that they're more than just "important," they're like... the most CRUCIAL THING you can learn to become a better composer. It's more important than music theory, and it's more important than learning an instrument. Sorry we disagree on this.
