Great video. The string trick worked a treat. Found it very easy to do and popped open almost straight away. The handle is broken hence why it wasn't opening. Not sure why the emergency release didn't work though given the issue. Still I was able to get my laundry out and the replacement handle is on it's way. Thank you.

Thank you so much! I was done in 15 mins and my washing machine works again! The "damn" modern Hotpoint doesn't have a lever for emergency opening. Had to drain the filter on the bottom for the door to open. Thankfully, it was only about 2l of water. Thank you for the help once again!

Aaaand it turned out that my misery was caused by a colour catching tissue, sucked into the filter. Lesson learned, manicure ruined 😂

Colour catchers and hair clips are the most common. We never use colour catchers, way too risky and do they even work!

I'm so pleased I found an expert on the same machine my Mum has. She just phoned me to say the lights are on permanently. She has switched it off by the mains for an hour, and then after switching it back on, they still wont go out. Have you got any ideas how to fix it please? Or anyone else?

We had a similar issue with this model & unfortunately it died after that and was likely an electrical fault. Depends how old it is whether you decide to try a repair\fix or get a new washing machine. Good luck.

Well son-of-a-b!tch, it worked!!! I got to step 5, had tried it a few times and was ready to give up as i wasnt going to try step.6. Gave it one more go then bang, the door popped open!! The door mechanism is broken, but thanks to your tips I am still able to use the washing machine to do washes, thank you so much!! 👍🏿
