I don’t usually comment but I just wanted to say thank you sir. My mom and I were alone and really struggling because we had a part of a blanket stuck in the agitator. Luckily after hours of trying to get it out I found this video of our exact washer and realized I could take off the agitator and save us even more time and money. When good people like you make these types of videos you help out other people you’ve never met when they need it the most. It really is very kind thank you so much. I’m tremendously grateful. God bless you and your loved ones.

Glad it helped with your mission. As you mentioned. There are ribs on the hub and grooves in the inner diameter of the agitator that line up. I just kind of eye balled the relationship of the paddles and the orientation to each other, (grooves, ribs,) as I placed the agitator back on. Always good to have any feedback to share with people if I missed some thing or some thing needs some clarification.. Thanks for that.

Primary motivation for making this particular video. Many models require the dome removal and a nut under neath. Once I figured that out on this one I thought. People would want to know this. So there we go. Glad it helped.

I have this exact machine and saw all those other videos before finding this on.e When I got to that dome you were talking about, I tried to gently pry it loose (as other videos said). When it wouldn't budge easily, I looked again about this specific make and found your video. THAT WAS SO EASY! I'm glad I stopped just in time or I would have broken the screen dome too. Thank you VERY much for this

This video was GREAT. I have a Hotpoint and a mattress pad got twisted around underneath the agitator. I looked at various videos like he did. So thank you for making this one. Tuff one without eyes on it and seeing and hearing. But my issue with the parts I had to replace was when it would spin it would behave like an out of balance load. Because the tub was loose and parts got sloppy . A grinding sound isn't something I experienced. If your not familiar with working on stuff like this Id see about getting someone who is to take a look. There really isn't too much to them that it can be. Motor, water pump, tub assembly, electrical Sheet metal body/frame/panels water supply and drain hoses. But labor adds up. If you can't or cant get family or a friend to look. You should be able to get a service call for a flat rate and then get an opinion to decide if its worth fixing or replacing. Hope that helps.

@ericinalaska7648

All joking aside. Pipe wrench and a hammer. It takes a decent crank to tighten it properly when installed. I found when tightening it if I just got it as tight as I could by hand or tapping it with my palm until the drum turned. It wasn't enough. It would loosen up again after a few loads. I put a short handled pipe wrench on it and hit it a few good times to really snug it up. Never had a problem since. I guess my point is that even without the corrosion its likely on there pretty good. But hopefully by the time you get this you've sorted it out.

@ericinalaska7648
@ericinalaska7648 4 жыл бұрын
If you have the exact model as this video. You don't need to remove the dome. Other models will have a fin or something you can grab with a pliers or the like and pull it out. And there would be a nut under it to be removed. That then frees up the agitator. In the video I mentioned that I removed mine, and destroyed it basically based on other references and learned I didn't need to. This model you can simply pull the agitator out. No reason to remove the dome under the softner cup. No need to remove the softener cup either. Just pull it out as a unit. Some models may require it though. So if you don't have this model you can pull and pull and its not gonna come out.

@ericinalaska7648
@ericinalaska7648 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Kyle. Pretty easy actually. First of course unplug and disconnect and or shut off the water. This unit and most have a couple of release clips on top of the front panel between the top and front panel.. I usually use a thin putty knife. Slide it in between the front panel and the top against the clip and either push firmly or sometimes whack the end of the handle with my palm. you should be able to look maybe with a flash light to see where each is. About an inch or two from each end. Then remove the front panel by pulling out on the top and then up and of the bottom retainer/clips. Set it aside. The top has a screw on each side in the front. Remove those and it frees the whole top up pretty good. You'll notice some wires. Those are for the sensor that tells the machine if the top is closed or not. So when you open it mid spin it stops spinning etc. Safety. You can release that from the bottom and turn it so it will fit through the slot. Feed it through. and then you maneuver the top off. The rest is held in place by kind of hooked edged and slots. I believe you push back and lift up to release the sides. And I believe the rear releases by pushing to the left. And lift out. I just kind of do it and am reliving it in my head. It may be slightly different. Rt instead of left and forward instead of back but you get the idea. And just repeat in reverse when reassembling. To get the tub out you have to release the back panel. With the knobs on it. Also pretty simple. Screws on the front bottom and back if I remember correctly and release. And swing it backward out of your way. Plenty of play in the wires to do so. Hope I wasn't too vague and this helps.

Hey Rodney. I was looking at a few things such as a tub. Tub Hub. And Tub bushing and nut. I recall around $35 to $50ish for a new agitator. Plus shipping likely. And certainly there are some for more, but you should be able to find one new in that range. For this particular model anyway. Also keep in mind that's just the agitator. Not any other parts you may want or need for the assembly. All parts sold separately.

Leaking? Or draining? Draining occurs during the spin cycle.Thats all basically controlled by the dial which is kind of like a timer. Thanks for relieving some anxiety about removing the agitator on my Hotpoint... Of all things, here in mid August, the ants have decided there must be something tasty inside my washing machine ! In particular it seems, they have focused on under and inside the agitator ... They attacked my shower last month... So maybe its soap particles ? ... Anyway, I figured, if I remove and clean the heck out of it, that it may discourage those pesky explorers ? ... I tried running on low, with lots of bleach... Unless you're going further. Doing other repairs. Its not necessary. I was exploring and those panels were off to evaluate other things. That was just the state it was in when making the video. Its been a while but I may have mentioned that in the video. Maybe not. Other than for safety, unplugging and shutting off and disconnecting the water if your gonna move the machine for better access you should be able to do this without any other disassembly. Open the lid. Pop out the agitator as demonstrated or discussed and that will expose the parts underneath.

Can't remove the plastic cap to get the screws off

This model does not require that. Some do. But this particular model does not. You simply need to tug on the agitator from the bottom to get it to snap off.

If you have this same model. There is no need to remove it. In fact its in there quite snug with either adhesive or maybe softener build up. Id say adhesive.Thats the mistake I made and I think I babbled a bit about that. If you are working on a different brand or model that holds the agitator on with a nut then yes. If so you should be able to work it out grabbing a fin with a pliers without much problem. Many other models require that. But not this model. Hopefully that helps?

I have the same wishing machine not spinning

Does it sound like it should be? Making all the same sounds when it goes into spin cycle but the tub doesn't spin? Does it agitate? Check that nut. Under the agitator. If that's not it Its hard to say without looking at it. If the tub is tight. Unplug and shut off and or disconnect water. And tilt the machine in a manner that will see if you have a worn or broken belt. Heavy loads can cause it to ware over time. If your belt is broken. A new belt can be found online easily by searching for your model # drive belt replacement. About $20. Thats another poss. Its always a bit hard to troubleshoot with partial info online but hopefully that's of some help. Those would be the first two things I look at first.

Is it the same make or model? If so, It can take some strength to pull or pop it loose. If its a different brand or model. It may have a bolt or nut holding it on under the softer cap assembly.
