" Had the test log been more secure, I could have applied much more pressure on the handle bar/pistol grip and it would have had a better showing with less elapsed time" -- MAN do I wish you'd had that!! I know the feeling you describe all-too-well but sadly that makes its actual time still unknown :/ If I'm being honest, and maybe I'm mis-reading the #'s here, but I guess I was expecting more than single-digit gains (the differences seem to be on the order of a few seconds, on a 30sec cut, am gonna re-watch I think I'm mistaking something..) Has to be that you just couldn't push ergo you didn't get to show another 10%+ because I've seen dyno graphs for ported 660/661's they respond very well like 1/3rd+ gains in both HP & Trque.. Thanks for all the videos I must have a dozen of yours in-queu right now, your knowledge amazes me! (PS- I'm confused, I get the impression you're saying the 661 was only recently released, relatively speaking...how late did Stihl sell the ms660? I guess I thought the 661 replaced it well before 2010 but your Summary text indicates nearly a decade later for 661 release, and I have to imagine the 660 was for-sale right til that moment right? Am curious for the personal reason that I've been, & plan to continue, going "all in" on this 660 platform [56mm types to be specific, have 2 of them] but lately have realized just how expensive OEM's are hell I've ordered an aftermarket starter assembly as I feel bad having the vintage 660 OEM on my work-saw LOL after finding how rare they are / how much people value them, not gonna sell it just don't feel right having it being beaten at work as-if it were any old flywheel cover yknow! But that holds-true to it all, I'd asked on OPE and the tanks seem a smart OEM-only purchase but there's like 2 available online and they're hundreds$ for used IE no idea of its true quality...ugh am hoping in 3yrs I'm not finding myself feeling like I've 'mastered' the platform, only to not be able to scoop decent parts anymore! Am comfortable w/ aftermarkets for *most* stuff but seals/cranks/etc if you're going in that far you don't wanna replace w/ AM yknow!!)

Joe - this is an exercise in power. Try leveraging chunks of wood weighing several hundred pounds on their heels with the chain spinning and see what you get with your equipment. The 660 was replaced with the 661c-m. The "standard" (adjustable carb) 661 was not introduced in America until la few summers ago I had clarified that in the description area. Almost no fanfare was associated with the release. Many did not even know they were available in the US until months afterward. Hp is not torque. Dyno this and that is the latest rave as far as I can tell. Just like a few years ago with the "muffler mod & a timing advance". Dynos give good insight, yes. Putting the bar & chain on and go sawing. That tells the tale. I've run some of my saws on dynos. Far more sophisticated than what I've seen on this platform as well. Power doesn't necessarily mean the saw will win, or win big, in a 24 or 30" cut with a shorty bar. It means it will win with a 42 or 50" bar. Or, in the hard wood on the stump of a 4 long log tall tree with a 3' bar. If you have not felled windblown 160 to 200' tall timber then that might not make since. Thanks for watching.

G3 auto hi. I'm going to assume you've never seen a faller after a few weeks in one of the notorious CR1900 or CR2500 brush holes if you think this is "free reving the piss out of" any saw. It important to get the participants as close to the same rpm level as possible. Well, if your going to be fair anyway. Regarding the "of info an actual cutting", one man's trash is another man's diamond. Sometimes you have to look in the rough... LOL. Thanks for bearing through!

Hello Jack! Am curious why you're always running them at 12960 rpm? Don't shy from the technical legthy language if you can help it. I fing enjoyment and education in your videos
@hotsaws101 Жыл бұрын
I don't know if it is all that technical - I try to get the combatants all running the same rpms. And run, at the very least, the same chain. It's the only way for it to be a fair comparison. Generally speaking, ~ 13K they still have a healthy miss at high idle. Since the majority of the saws are new, that rpm is not to far above where they will settle in and work at. So, as to not overspeed them to early. Keep in mind, I will be running one of my work saws the same way "outinthewood", lol. Thanks for watching.

My MS660's fuel tank pressurized @ 1 to 5 PSI was seeping air out of the OEM Stihl fuel cap at the hexagon seam on the face of the cap & around the O-ring, so I ordered a Stens 610-302 to replace what the Stihl parts manual calls for a Stihl 0000 350 0531. It threaded into the tank a bit looser than the OEM original I have but leaks air out of the same hexagon seams even at 1 PSI. I told the seller the service manual calls for testing the vent valve to .5 BAR/7.2 PSI and it leaked at only half that. He gave me my money back. I have a new Stihl OEM fuel cap 0000 350 0509, Oregon 07-136 inner fuel tank line/1124 358 7700, Stihl New OEM fuel Tank Vent valve 1110-353-1600 Orange umbrella silicone type old style on the way and those 3 parts should be here in a few days. Why would these fuel caps leak around the hex seams on the face of these fuel caps? The Stens 610-302 was new fresh out of the package. Are they a two piece design and known to leak along the hex seams on the fuel cap face?
@hotsaws1013 жыл бұрын
J E T hi. I guess it is possible there is a hairline split at/in the seam. Are you positive the seal interface on the tank housing is not the culprit? Sometimes the plastic wil deform a bit since it is a petroleum derivative. I would be looking there 1st. I would be exploring a different o-ring if i could not get any satisfaction with a new cap as well. A slightly thicker o-ring might seal on the tank and cap better preventing seepage. In the end, its hard to have an opinion on sometime one cannot see/experience themselves. Thanks for watching.
