Afternoon Jack, the first saw I got from you was a 372 XPW which I worked for 5 odd years and led to a few more from you some 9 years later ! Both good saws but that 272 is quite special, now I know why you mentioned it ! The 357 is waiting to start work and indeed another special saw from the short test run it's had.

Dave hi. I couldn't remember when the first saw made the, across the pond, voyage. I'm cautiously optimistic you'll be well pleased once the 357XP Torque Monster gets a mouthful while you're on a "prowling" (Dave's word, although I really do appreciate it) mission. This 272 is kind of a Monster as well. Maybe you need it too, lol. Thanks for watching.

@hotsaws1012 жыл бұрын
@Sensei948 hi. How are you not getting heat form that tuner who uses the same avatar? You can set it wherever you want. There is no way for me to tell you it is "this", and it is "this" every time. The chain is going to play a huge role in the process. Also, thinking that I've gone down this same road with you numerous times before. My stance is not going to change. The link to the video shows how I do it. It is the same every time when doing a one time adjustment session on a saw that is broken in. On all saws that allow the operator to adjust the needles that is. 1st. Get the low speed circuit set. I like the saw to drop off of high idle fairly quickly. No Da Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding like what can be seen sometimes on a 2-cycle dirtbike. One or two then they hit lowspeed idle. Adjust the high speed circuit according to how YOU want the saw to perform. I never owned a tach until ~ 4 years ago. I tuned in a falling application by ear. This requires the chain to be dialed in. It is what keeps the engine in check. An audible miss at high idle will net a good running saw. I've found they will last a long, long time as well. I've never, sans the 346 in the high winder series video, melted a saw down. I did it on my 346 purposefully. I'm not into "x" rpms personally. The factory says 13.5K for the upper limit on the 372 series saws. It would depend upon the saw's state of tune however. Some saws will run better at a different rpm level than others. So,,, having the saw testing done where the saws are at the same rpm is not necessarily fair to both. You need to experiment. Because again, there is no "x". It's get the b&c on, go use the saw while listening to it run. Again, audible miss at high idle, freewheeling. The assumption here is that the saw being tuned has the b&c on with the chain tension is set for use. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6SsaWZ9Z6yib7s Thanks for watching.

@@Sensei948 hi. That is a really tight window in the rpm range, all things considered. What you ask is virtually impossible for me to tell you "over the phone". Generally speaking on saws that the operator can alter/adjust the low and/or high speed needles: The saw needs a slight burble at high idle. Where that is with your mo-chine in your location (read - elevation, humidity, barometric pressure, etc.) is hard to tell. The state of tune and/or amount of run time and/or condition (mechanically - maintenance) and/or condition internally (read - fresh, tired, clapped out) will have bearing on where the saw-weet spot is in the rpm range as well. The screen/s should run at a hue of a brown paper bag. That "usually" nets the correct plug color. Most of the time (again generally) having a slight miss at wot (wide open throttle) is about right. The aforementioned points of interest will usually hold true for all saws in their various "condition". In the end, and with saws that the operator can "tune", the guy squeezing the trigger will need to alter fuel input and find the sweet spot. Thanks for watching.

I have a 272xp that my dad bought when I was a little kid, he hardly used it. It's a great saw and I've been using it on the fireline. I love it but it would be even better if it had a full wrap handlebar. Is there a full wrap for another saw that will fit it?
@hotsaws1013 жыл бұрын
Daniel hi. I think that the 266 version with the spacer will work but good luck finding one of those. I think that the super early 268 handles were like the 266, but cannot remember. I did not use those much since they were too small of a saw for most of the timber we were cutting back then. The late version 268 is the same as the 272. The only other option is to weld up a set. @hotsaws1014 жыл бұрын
J. T hi. Honestly, I've never run one. When they came out, we were felling way to big of timber to use one. I did have a good running 262xp for swamping out, cutting trails, and the once in a blue moon corner-o-crapp on the edge. It would handle a 28" decently. I wouldn't worry about all the hearsay. Jeff hi. Depends upon which version. The Sugi & Tsue, not so much. But they are more heavy. The Stihl is in the middle in both flexibility and weight. The Oregon LW bars are the lightest by far but are far superior in "flexure" as well. The Cannons are on the heavy side of the lw concept and a bit sitft from the look of them. Kilikina hi. Really, really close that's for sure. The times are in the description area. But, not putting to much pressure on the 372 bars. It would have slowed up tremendously had I done so. Is the 372 a slouch, by all means no. Maximum pressure on the 272xp Torque Monster bars. It still tractored right along - especially with the rocking action where it took the weight coming back which equals a lot more force than when its just a static load. If they were to get a taste of a 42" bar the 272 would be noticeably out in front. Thanks for watching.
