Good commitment to family while also providing. I plan on doing the same once I get my set up. Just started class for my CDL, within 3 more weeks I should have it.

Great video! Enjoy the content! Request for you, will you make a video on the new drivers first 90 days of fuel mileage and cost? I'm trying to decide if the 5500 is work the extra fuel!.. maybe give his set info, gear ratio and any tunes, if he has stock tires or 4x4.. I'm 15 minutes from your new driver.. just need a little help based on real time reality... I want to make a educated decision

What kind of mpg do you get with your truck and trailer unloaded?
@Blue_Sky_Hotshots4 ай бұрын
Unloaded and regular interstate driving I get 12.8 mpg. If I’m loaded up with a shorter load I usually get about 10.5 mpg. If I have a tall load on that’s dragging on the wind then I get down to as low as 8 mpg.

Try to come eat right now. Theres more movement over here. I really like the vids and how you show how this job is. And if you dont mind me asking. What camera do you use?

Thank you!! I just use a GoPro 10, but I just added a new mic to it so I’m hoping that cleans up the audio a bit.

Are you looking to lease on anybody in Southern Oregon? Going through all the steps to get my own authority, I have my DOT physical scheduled next week and should have a truck and trailer in the next couple of weeks. I was hoping to lease on to an established company while my MC numbers age. I am in Medford and willing to work.
@Blue_Sky_Hotshots4 ай бұрын
It all depends on the equipment, MVR, if you’re running CDL, if you’re willing to go over to the Midwest at times, how long you’d be looking to lease on (since it does cost me money up front for ELD, Logos, My Time, Etc.) all those things. Email me at blueskyhotshots@gmail.com

Hello Blue Sky I will start my own business with cars and hotshot about September or October, Can you tell me how much you pay insurance? Thank you Raymond
@Blue_Sky_Hotshots3 ай бұрын
First year I paid $600 a month, and now I pay close to $1,000. There’s reasons for my increase though, like my business expanded, etc. I recommend calling an agent and getting a quote right away. You don’t need a business to do that, just call and have them run your license and tell them the value of the equipment you’ll be using. Make sure you do at least $1M liability and $100k cargo, and you’ll get an estimate on your cost. This should be done by anyone that wants to get into hotshot, because it could be so expensive that you can’t even get into the business without leasing onto a company.

All my freight is picking back up, just gotta have enough high paying loads to outweigh the loads I get off the board. I think the problem a lot of people have is they try to jump into this and run just load board freight, and that’s a tough gig no doubt.

@Blue_Sky_Hotshots4 ай бұрын
@@mikelopez4148 Less. I keep a large percentage in the company account. I also didn’t drive much and sometimes that’s on purpose. As long as my month evens out to the gross revenue that I want to be at then it’s all good.

How much is diesel in California ??
@Blue_Sky_Hotshots2 ай бұрын
Right now it’s $5.09 but I get a decent discount with my fuel cards I use. No matter the discount though, it’s absolutely ridiculous. It’s very expensive to run on the West Coast with diesel prices and Oregon’s Weight Mile Tax at $.10 a mile. They’ll find any way possible to steal your money out here!!

We are always in the way? Haha my hotshot can hold 80mph up a hill fully loaded. I personally will not push my truck like that. The semi trucks hitting hills at 65mph and dropping to 45mph at the top. Not to mention 3 wide up a hill slowing a 75mph interstate to 45mph. People are so ignorant.
