Hotter Than July - Summer Fly Fishing The Welsh River Dee - VCAC

Another trip to a Llangollen Maelor beat in beating hot weather - I believe up to 28C on Wednesday.
Despite the scorching temperature I still managed to tempt a number of grayling to my F Flies, Wally Wing Parachutes and Griffith's... Missed a few, too... (don't we all?)

The last few minute are filmed on my SJCam which has great video quality yet terrible sound recording capabilities... and external mic is required.
All hooks are Partridge, either Dry Fly Supreme (debarred) or Barbless.
NOTE: Please somebody remind me to bring my flippin' wading staff next time... AND USE MY BLOODY NET!!!! 🙄👎🎣

Iain Fraser Dear Eoin, as always a pleasure to watch your videos. With the climatic changes we now experience it could well be hot when we are fishing our PSUK Internationals on this stretch. I was speaking with our national (English EPFFA Sec) secretary this afternoon and suggested that he gets all our team members to watch your videos so you might get a few more followers in the near future. Thanks again for the accolade, Iain! I really don't see myself as much of an 'accomplished' fisher... but I guess I'm contented with knowing that I know or indeed understand enough to help me catch... and often. My tying is 'industrial' as best, but again I disagree with some purists who aim for perfection in their flies. I'm a believer in presentation and 'adequacy' of pattern to be good enough. I will, over the next few weeks, attempt to film my tying of some of my faves. And to your recommendation to your team members? How thoroughly honoured I should be 😉👌🎣

@@eoincampbell-flyfishermana4737 Iain Fraser - Eoin - I just want to give my team members the best chance and as we are likely to be from all parts of the country and none of us will be over familiar with the Dee then we will be using your knowledge to give us the best chance. I hope the Irish boys don't find your U Tubes as well. The Welsh probably know the water and the Scots are always good wherever they fish though the Dee might be a little slower than what they are used to. Before Covid buggered everything up I remember being paired up with an Irish chap who re-cast every 4 seconds and thought wow that is thrashing the water. The following year I was with a Scots lad who cast every 3 seconds but that was on the Tees.

Iain Fraser Eoin, were you using a single fly or did I see a dropper at the latter part of the video ??

I almost NEVER use more than one fly, Iain. I don't trust that I'll not tangle. Plus, I can't concentrate on more than one. Occasionally, I may have one fly on for a few hours... if it's catching; other times, I may change three, four and even five times. I've tried dry and nymph setups but again, always revert to one dry.
