The thing I love most about this channel is that there's no way this is practiced and scripted, no one is that clumsy on purpose. It's great to see the journey of you trying all these things. If you grow peppers again, start them in pots indoors a month or two before your outdoor growing season begins. Same with tomatoes, etc. I live in an area with a longer growing season than you (though we're at about the same latitude) and I get a much better harvest that way. Melons as well. Thanks for your work, I find what you do very interesting.

I'm curious, how do you deal with the melons? Do you time their growth so that you'd get them outdoors by the time they're bearing fruit or do they go out when they start flowering?

@@shutereye2634 neither, you plant them when they're about six inches tall in the pot. They still have a lot of growing to do before reproduction starts. As an aside, all of the plants I've mentioned have around a six+ month life cycle. That's longer than the season in most of the US. Have a great day

I feel like he should make chopsticks for cooking. They're great for stirring, flipping while frying and lifting small pieces of food. According to wiki they were known before Shang dynasty which started 1766 BCE. Additionally it's pretty easy to make and useful if you know how to handle it.

He is in the early Bronze age (~3300 BCE), earliest archeological evidence for chopsticks (according to wiki) is 1200 BCE -even if we split the difference and say there were chopsticks in 1500 BCE; we (in 2020 CE) are closer in time to the height of the Roman Empire, than he is to chopsticks.

That's true of pretty much all spices. Most of them developed those chemicals to stops animals from eating them or to fight off infections from fungi or bacteria. Also a major reason why you find most spices naturally in warmer climates, the cold weather in areas further from the equator do a good enough job of stopping many of those threats.

Remember in the Bronze Age people had years to learn the skill and decades to become masters of it. He is literally trying to speedrun human civilization so he's not going to get particularly good at any of the skills. at least not for a while yet

12:44 apply breading with 2 bowls. Pour the breading into the other bowl on top of the chicken (on a bit of breading so it doesn't get binder in the bowl) repeat on the other side of the food to be breaded. This ensures the entirety of the binder is covered in the finest particles at the bottom of the bowl, and this prevents the binder from rubbing off the food into the breading by stirring.

He grew the chilies to make his own pepper-spray. Well, it took a few years, but he finally accomplished that goal (close enough, anyway). I suspect that Andy's projects never get abandoned. They only get delayed.

Thank goodness all across the world everyone has a type of chilli pepper that is readily available. If a reset does occur everyone can have the gift of knowledge to prepare something like that with limited means.

pepper in Spain we have "pimientos del padrón", some are spicy and some aren't, usually they only get spicy if you leave them too much time to mature on the plant, you can just deep fry them whole and they are super delicious here in Cantabria.
