That systemsix has the best aero, small gaps and big chords. Shame about the handlebars. You can't gain aero. You can only lose it. The speed of the loss determines how aerodynamic the bike is.

Beautiful bikes Alex, all of them. I'm going to be honest. I Would love one. But I think theres a problem. There just so expensive. I think the manufacturer's are damaging the sport. Because the average family cannot afford them. So the young riders, who want to invest into the sport feel that there equipment Isn't adequate . And feel intimidated when starting out. FSA stopped making stems longer than 120mm several years ago. That is why all the riders you see with 130mm plus long stems are all using NOS Gossamer or Energy stems with the adapted carbon front plate. There are no more old K Force, Team Carbon, SLK or others in long sizes. On a very rare occasion you will see a new style carbon long stem on a fully FSA kited bike. That would be a one off for that rider. Oh....the Carbon FSA cranks are not the same bolt pattern as Shimano. They also require special chainring bolts to keep from breaking the mounting tabs off the crank.
@BrianMcDonald
@BrianMcDonald Жыл бұрын
There are currently multiple stems from FSA that are 130/140mm, most notably in the ACR series which is what most pros will and have been using.

Would’ve loved to see the new SuperSix up close. If they’ve moved away from pressfit BB and changed the cable routing at the front end then that could be the next bike for me. The Look was interesting. Look always seem to do things different and better than most. My favourite is the Wilier. Oh my that’s a purdy bike. From the paint to the angles, it’s just perfect. Close second is the Scott.
@alexanderg2313
@alexanderg2313 Жыл бұрын
The new supersix is actually seen on many EF rider's instagram, including Richard Carapaz's. The head tube and cable routing (the old version of cable routing is quite a bad design) are redesigned so the front looks thinner and more aero. The rear seat stay is lowered and both down tube and stays appear to look more aero. Not sure if they will change PF30A BB, which Cannondale uses on almost all of their bikes, I think it's okay, I had 3 Cannondale bikes with BB30a and PF30a, and none of them has ever creaked. It could potentially be the next bike for me, lets see if the tarmac sl8 surprises me or not.
@atgnicyclist
@atgnicyclist Жыл бұрын
@@alexanderg2313 it’s certainly looking like Cannondale have fixed the issues with the SuperSix. If it carries over the real-world-useable geometry of the older version then this could be a winner. Be good if they sell it in these team colours too.

Hi Alex. One thing I notice which perhaps connects with one of the vids on aero stuff is the step between tyre and rim. I know a 'O ring' glued in has been banned but on my car the tyres have what they call a rim protector (against kerbing) part of the side wall. Surely if a tyre manufacturer could make a tyre with a bit of extra side wall to fill in or slightly overhang the gap. As it would be part of the tyre it should be legal, and slightly quicker. Why doesn't someone try it? On the same theme, the aero benefit of the front wheel depends critically on rim depth. The narrower front tyre might not be to reduce cross sectional area so much as to maintain aspect ratio with less rim depth. Yeah great paint job on the Astana, and I like the Ineos bodge with the bit of inner tube.

If the 3dprinted ti bracket's a one-off or a prototype, how much are the frames and every other component prototypes too? Same with shimano, probably, since when was the las ttime you ever saw a shimano crank break in half during a prro race?

Obviously not the C-dales or they wouldn't have those insanely long stems on 'em! A few years ago I had it on pretty good authority that a certain Astana star (won all three GT's in his career) was "having bikes made" as they put it in Italy. At that time Kim Il Sinyard's company was suppling the Astana team bikes and I assume a pile o'sponsorhip loot, but this guy wanted something besides off-the-rack...and was getting it, as big stars like Boonen and Cavendish used-to back in the day. That long stem has my nuts screaming. I use a AEROELASTIC AE Saddle, which is basically crotchless, and I don't know how on Earth these guys get into an aero position for long periods of time without a crotchless seat. They aren't allowed to tilt them either i think with UCI reg.

@AskGCNTech Hi folks! I'm riding a 2021 carbon frame 105 Giant Defy. I've purchased a set of new tires in 2022. I love my bike, but I'm not into racing yet. What would you suggest : 1 - Getting new wheels and train on heart rate during the spring to fall period? 2 - Getting a power meter and train on power with entry level wheels? Thanks for the feedback!
