@FoxGhost7 basically when you aren't wearing your brain hallucinates, it fills in the gaps in your vision with stuff that isn't there. What and how is based on what is causing it, like simple optical illusions just spin what color or shape, while hard drugs can completely change what you are looking at. The idea is if you have glasses and take them off, everything is fuzzy and the brain doesn't fill in the gaps correctly. Resulting in the illusion remaining in focus while everything else becomes blurry.

@@mtlins7well, it is still pretty trashy. But being trashy does not necessarily equate to being bad. The story still does contain some incredibly trashy elements, but it delivers it with a surprising amount of tact, and/or puts an interesting spin on it, which is pretty much completely unheard of in this genre. It is another story about some dude getting put into the body of a young, hot, über-important bachelor, who‘s constantly surrounded by equally young and hot bachelorettes who constantly wanna jump his bone, but he actually doesn’t care about that part and uses others paranormal attraction to him to perform his job more efficiently. It does feature a lot of needless acts of… atrocities that I probably can’t mention in a comment section, but it actually focuses on the horrific aspects of said acts and how it negatively impacts the characters effected by it, instead of somehow trying to fetishize it. I could go on. This show exists in the same sphere as shows like Akihabara Maid War, Eminence in Shadow, Misfit of Demon King Academy and so on. Yes, they are, by „definition“, trash. But that doesn’t mean that they’re not good. In fact, their trashiness just increases it‘s overall quality tenfold, instead of subtracting from it

I've read the Fruit of Evolution light novels and I can say that the humor is mostly about how absurd things can get. Seiichi becomes so overpowered that most of the humor becomes about how inhumanly powerful and ridiculous he is. I remember that in your video on Misfit of Demon King Academy, that Anos was basically a fantasy OP MC taken to it's logical extreme. And even back then I was like, no Seiichi Hiiragi would fit that description better. At one point, his status numbers become so high that his system just doesn't even bother showing them anymore because it can't calculate that high.

It's clear you don't watch hockey. You lose teeth because upper levels don't wear face masks. Never had blood from hockey, sure big hits but you never see blood really unless someone doesn't have a mouthguard in and bites something. There's no way this would happen because the techniques of hockey takes years to master. contrast with say football where if you can run fast and/or strong you can pick it up in a year. But hockey is moving on frozen water with blades attached to your feet using a pole to move a little black disk around in complex ways.

MC believes everyone can be happy. joins a Death Game by committing suicide, mind controls his aunt and causes her murder. The qualifying motive to be a candidate is to have given up on life or tried to take your own. author uses shock value with children to an extreme degree (stadium event where a girl is attached to another Candidate and nearly has her arm ripped off, and a CHILD, CHILD RAPIST MURDERER that is killed in the same episode introduced) Jojo character with a sword that ruins the only plot of IDENTITY HIDING IS VITAL, gets an angel that cracks the Identities of 3 of the God Candidates (and one person's family) I am not sure what is the worst part about Platinum End, the powers to mind control, kill, or FLY INTO SPACE with NO consequences, or the hypocritical MC that will sooner piss himself again and spout "Happiness for all!" as he freezes up at the mere thought of his psuedo-girlfriend being killed.

I was kinda shocked when I read the first volume of Platinum End on a whim, and kinda realized that Platinum End has a pretty bad adaptation. Aside from cutting out a lot of important scenes, they also are way slower in the anime. I think we took for granted how good the Death Note adaptation was. Considering the main action of Death Note was people scribbling.

Tuatha De comes from the word for the supernatural race ‘Tuatha De Danann’ which we derived a lot of our deities from. Rhiannon being Pwyll's wife in Welsh mythology, and Epona being the much earlier (as in, pre-migration to the British Isles) Celtic goddess of horses that Rhiannon is *probably* the Welsh version of. Whether there's any significance to this or the author just likes Celtic names, who knows.

Night Beyond The Tricornered Window actually picks up at around ep 3-4 and the plot and the characters became really interesting. The bl aspect takes a backseat and the story goes in a psychological, half horror, mystery direction and both the story and the characters become pretty complex and interesting. I didn't really like it in the first 2 episodes but I gave it a few more episodes and it turned out to be a pretty good show so dropping it at ep 1 is like you didn't even give a chance to the anime to set up the actual plot and characters properly.

Might i recommend a very unknown anime from this year? It's called Artiswitch, and it's a short 6 episode KZbin show about a mysterious girl helping people achieve their dreams through beautifully animated music videos. It is, in my opinion, an amazing project that deserves so much more recognition, not only for how beautiful it is, or how much love the creators clearly put into it, but also because i think it portrays some heavy topics in a really interesting way.

Finally, someone agrees with me that Tesla Note's animation isn't as trashy as Ex-Arm's. Compared to Ex-Arm, Tesla Note actually has facial animation (although maybe too much), while Ex-Arm barely has any and focuses mostly on lip-flaps.

I would say Tesla Note is *sometimes* better than Ex-Arm. But there are some scenes that are worse. Like in Episode 8 on 2:50 they legit use a low fps unfinished animation without any blending, its the worst animation I have ever seen.

From what I've seen... Compared to this season video games, EX-ARM was GTA remaster: adaptation of a better work done by team who prayed technology would do the work for them, because they didn't have either skillset, time or budget to do it properly, and failed. Hilariously. Tesla Note is more like New World: yes, rubbernecking at all the ways it fails is more fun than watching as intended, but you can see that some people who knew what they were doing worked on this and sometimes glimpse what they were going after, and it's actually quite OK in those moments.

You might like Accel World, the best thing SAO creator Reki Kawahara has made imo. It's a 6/10 ARG style isekai Shonen but it has a squishy MC like that. I don't know, I liked it.

I used to play over in Asia, some of the best players were from Japan. However the level of play compared to North America and Europe is insane. I played low level college here, but I could move over to Asia and play on a national team easily. Also everyone is still rocking mullets while playing over there, especially the Chinese kids, keeping the spirit of hockey alive and well.

But right in the beginning it clearly gives us hints that he wants to have a normalish life and that he wants to also use his emotions more. Shows pretty good for what it is but even if I expect it to go downhill just like how much seirei gensouki disappointed me I still hope that isn't the case.

These videos are always intriguing. I like good anime but there is something strangely fascinating about a bad anime and these observations often make them more fun. I would have said Pride of Orange was more a mediocre anime, but I guess when you have the good guys lose in the opening scene there are consequences. I'm watching Pride of Orange primarily because I figure as a Canadian who does not care about hockey I need to have plausible deniability that actually I do meet the minimum amount of interest in hockey to maintain my citizenship.

The Gay angle drops heavily into the background, and the Blond guy is revealed to be a Sociopath. You must have dropped it before episode 5 when it starts getting good.

Honestly, the world's finest assassin LN didn't have all those fanservice the anime has, the anime added a lot of new content as fillers for the eps. The anime is only adopting LN volume 1, which had a lot of timeslips and half the time some of the events end too quick. So, the new anime-only content was good for the anime adoption, since the source didn't give many details or enough for an adoption of a chapter.

Fun fact about worlds greatest assassin's author: the guy is a professional low effort male power fantasy ecchi writer, with half a dozen successful light novel series under his belt, and world finest assassin is more in line with his usual writing style than Redo of a Healer and Lugh is more like the heroes he seems to like writing than Healer hero dude, so the author defenitely and deliberately slummed it with Redo of a Healer. By the way Tarte (the maid) is best girl

I had to drop Assassin early on because they committed the sin of the writer making the entire world stupid so the protagonist can seem smart. In Assassin it was "We have people who train other people in magic but somehow never figured out that you can just teach magic spell directly", in Saint's Magic Power it was "Hey, did you know healing herbs can also be used to make food taste good?"

The Night Beyond the Tricolored Window ended up being the only anime I’ve bothered to watch this season, and I’ve surprisingly enjoyed it quite a bit. Especially for someone who has never watched a yaoi anime before. The spirits and curses all look pretty damn cool and aesthetic.

It is a spoiler for fuit of evolution but there’s one aspect of the protagonist that is unabashidley better then 90% of the isekai manga series. He’s not fine with slavery and one of the first things he does when he meets a classmate and realizes all the transported kids are inslaved so they can be used by the country without backfire is cast magic that makes slave magic do nothing within like 300km of where he used it.

IIRC typically the "Hottest Trash" episodes focus on so-bad-it's-good shows. The actually bad ones (and maybe some in the former category) are usually saved for the "Worst Anime" year-end episode (with Deep Insanity apparently already on the fast track for the 2021 edition). The last Hottest Trash episode but was a catch-up to Spring 2021's best of the worst (or as Geoff puts it, "Lukewarmest Trash"; the other episodes run concurrent with the season), with CESTVS, Fairy Ranmaru, Battle Athletes 2021, and Osamake still being that season's most ironically memorable half a year later.

It might come up in one of the boys backstories and suddenly everything starts making way more sense. That episode was honestly a really good one as are a lot of them I would argue, Just yes you have the inherent trashiness of the premise. But they actually do some interesting stuff with said premise.

(I also like the way they use my most-hated yaoi tropes to deliberately create an unsettling atmosphere, but that's YMMV.)

Agreed. Once you get past the gawd-awful "soul jizz" bs, it becomes obvious that the 2 mains' relationship is *intentinally* unhealthy and everyone involved is aware. Once that's acknowledged, the mystery and all the other (infinitely healthier) relationships take center stage. Besides, I think Geoff should watch a bit more, if only because it features one of his favorite / least favorite things: CULTS!

I gotta say - big fan of how the two anime on this list that I read the manga for (fruit of evolution and assassin, you may be able to see my tastes a bit) got exactly the reviews they should have. Fruit of evolution was a decently funny generic isekai manga that I could get a laugh out of occasionally that I've heard got adapted... less than perfectly, and Assassin was a legitimately interesting manga where the fanservice was inoffensive enough that simply enjoying it for the cool "assassin" type stuff was perfectly viable.

I also want to argue that Mirai is a way superior protagonist than Yukiteru. He is not an irredeemable piece of garbage that uses others for his benefit. Also, despite understanding both positions of each character, Mirai truly abides by his ideologies and is genuinely an interesting character, despite being the definition of lawful good. I may be one of the few people that actually like Mirai as a protagonist. Yes, he can get irritating, but I feel the show does a decent job of portraying his ethos and life philosophies unlike Yukiteru in Mirai Nikki. But, yeah Platinum End is bad when it's trying to be edgy.

There are a lot of great anime to start with; Really depends on what non anime media the person is already into. FMA Brotherhood is good for fantasy fans, BECK or K-On if they like rock music, Rakugo Shinjuu if they're into period dramas, Mob Psycho 100 if they like comedy. Bakugan got surprisingly boring and stupid, but Platinum End continues to deliver... whatever it's been delivering. Not like we're starved for good anime though, we got Ranking of Kings, Komi, Annoying Senpai, Jahy, and Faraway Paladin to fill the void.

The night beyond the tri corner window is amazing! It gets better the more you watch it, for sure. And not just because of what the characters are saying. It does not belong on this list in my opinion! The blond exorcist is obsessed with the guy who can see ghosts in a sort of toxic way, but they do explain why. There is a fake fortune teller that can see ghosts and perform exorcisms who uses deduction to solve peoples problems. There is a cop who's power is the power of pure denile in anything he doesn't believe in, so nothing supernatural affects him. They actually use him to ward a area at one point by spitting on the ground. There is a girl who lets the souls of the dead enter her, she relives their deaths, and then she uses those people to curse others! The blond literally eats curses!

I honestly think "The Night beyond the tricornered window" doesn't belong in the trash since he only saw the first episode. As someone who watched all the episodes so far, the anime is pretty cool. I'll admit the first 3 or 4 episodes are a bit fan service-y, but later on, it does tone down on said fanservice and focus on the characters and the themes and storylines are generally compelling and screwed-up in a good way. Also, the villain of the show might surprise you either way. I haven't read the manga so I don't know if it's better than the anime like people say, but from what I've seen, this anime is not as bad; it's okay.

Each episode of trash there is at least 1 anime that I enjoy despite it being trash. Last time it was Battle Game in 5 seconds. This time it's assassin isekai. Legit, this anime made me go: "Redo's author played the market like an absolute legend, getting his name known through shock factor and then focusing on actually interesting stuff." Yes, it fits the self-indulgent isekai trash criteria, but this is actually well-written trash. It's well-paced, I enjoy the world-building as well as the action, MC has a flexible mind which makes for decent dialogues, even when those dialogues are about his subordinates trying to bone him. This is legit one of my favorites from last season. Still got a lot of catching up to do tho. Ousama ranking, Sakugan and Laika I only started.
