This is Jagmeet from India , somehow when I stumbled upon the Music of Flanagan and Allen , I was just riveted . Even though I have never been to England and have never listened to them before a strange feeling comes over me and the music and lyrics seem so earily familiar. Its as if I have somehow experienced them in a parallel universe. Cant explain why and how.

Doesn't this just make you yearn for times gone by? I was born in the early 60's when this sort of entertainment was still popular. If only entertainment could be more like this. More like this please Thanks for sharing

Just old enough to have meet the Gang, once met never forgot, all eccentric, funny, enjoyed the fun and games of stage life, drove producers mad, made life hell for Val Guest who worked on "OK for Sound", but he thought they were the best he worked with!! They were just like the act in real life, that was the trick, they played themselves and really enjoyed it.. Inveterate Gamblers, drinkers etc, but it never got in the way of the simple joy of life they portrayed on stage....

Glad to hear that. I was afraid that it might turn out that they hadn't been all that funny after all, or that their humour would have been very dated. I get the impression that Bud and Ches at least really were pals; not always the case in showbiz.

Growing up in the 1950s Flanagen and Allen were often on the BBC TV shows with their simple but uplifting music and comedy.. Light entertainment continued until the arrival of so-called talent shows. Many today don't realise that despite modest pay, society seemed happier with itself in the 1950s, We had NHS hospitals spread around all our towns and cities, as well as Police stations and Fire stations. Buses and trains were always on timetable. And i recall low levels of crime. Today Governments have huge GDP compared to the 50s and 60s yet we don't have those many facilities society had when there was less money around for governments to spend

I love this I've just got into the crazy gang. Love their sense of humour it hasn't dated much. Also think that bud Flanagan has the most remarkable expresive face.

What amazing eyes the young Bud Flanagan had! He reminds me in some ways of a young Groucho Marx.

1:06 When they say "Things we couldn't buy with LSD" are they talking about Pounds/Shillings/Pence?
