Thank you very much once again, I made hair : ) I had no idea of working with node comb, I really didn't know it. Thanks again.

Right on! I'm glad you found that trick to be useful Alfredo. The comb is simple, but mighty whenever you need to define a custom direction for anything.

Thanks, Tyler. Really neat comb+smooth combo. I personally feel its kinda unprocedural if you draw normal vectors. Is there any way to do it without drawing? So any input mesh would work? Maybe with measure sop? Just interesting…

Totally! What's interesting about this scenario is that there isn't a 100 percent procedural technique that will follow Hooberts swirly mesh in that particular way unless you groom the vectors manually. As Houdini artists, it's very easy for us to spin our wheels about making everything procedural when sometimes the easiest route is to just pick up the comb node and make some custom vectors.

Very Nice video thank you very much! As Denis said, it would be very cool to see the shading part :) Again thanks for your video and your knowledge!! -Damien

Thanks a lot!!! How can i render this effect? Where do I need to add material or something like that? (render mantra sees only 3d model) p.s. I'm just starting to learn Houdini

Hey Denis, I'll be releasing a quick tip next month that demonstrates how I shaded Hoobert. If you're a subscriber to cg forge, you can check it out ahead of time. But the general idea is that you want to create a semi transparent emissive shader
