Hi guys,
I did this ocean sim setup in Houdini 16.5 about two years ago and I want to share some aspects about it. I know it's a bit old way but I think some beginners might still need it. Hope I could help you here :)
(Recommend playing the video 1.5x)
The scene file is available here: (cgsouls.gumroad.com/l/BQLTW?_.... )
Thanks for watching and hope you'll have a great day!

gr8 work!!!But i have question about the scale os this scene, is that made in Meters or Centimetres?
@starlight055
@starlight055 3 жыл бұрын
i would assume metres. houdini reads things as meters; and things react based on real-life scale. So, given how it looks, I'd think it's in meters :)
@merion297

Incredible! But it lacks refraction. I have a Proof of Concept video about a non-RT non-PT quasi-refraction, originally for gaming engines. Would you mind to try to implement it to see if it's useful (meaning it makes credible refraction without ray-tracing or path-tracing)? I don't know Houdini but it requires something like Blender's Geometry Nodes system.

啊这个你要自己给个path去模拟sim,毕竟缓存文件较大,网盘放不下。如果前面没有error,你可以直接cache to disk的

How to separate whitewater bubbles spray to different groups?
@digitalsouls2020
@digitalsouls2020 4 жыл бұрын
Assuming you're using houdini 17.0 and above. Previously in other houdini versions you could just split foam bubbles and spray via point groups generated by the whitewater solver. However since H17 it doesn't generate these groups anymore. On the whitewater solver there is an add state attributes tickbox. This will give you an attribute of 0-1 for bubbles, foam and spray.
