Houkodou brush favorites and recommendations

Thank you for the video Tracy! I have the eye brushes (got them on your recommendation) and I highly recommend kolinsky gs-4 and gs-5. I use gs-4 to apply concealer for a soft cut crease, it works perfect for me since I have small eyes.

That's an interesting way to use the gs-4. Ill try it out. I think I put it away because it kind of fluffed up a bit after washing. Thank you for watching and the great feedback!

Thank you for the video! I’ve just ordered a few of the eye brushes, so your information is very helpful ☺️ Random question though: have you applied any of your own labels to the handles of any brushes? (I’m thinking of doing this with some to help keep track of which ones use which hairs and so can be used for different purposes.) If so, what have you found to use that won’t lift the paint or lacquer?🤔 TIA

That’s awesome! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. So I use a simple label maker and it’s never lifted the lacquer. The labels eventually come off on their own after a while so I’m guessing water causes this so it’s def not permanent. The houkodou brushes tend not to have the style #

Hi Tracy ! How would you compare the Sora serie and the Bisyodo grande serie ( softness, resilience, bundling ...) ? 🙂

Hi! That's a great questions. So aside from the aesthtics; the Sora brushes are much fluffier and apply lighter for the face brushes. The Grande series seems to be bundled more tightly or are more dense giving them more precision. I was in the process of ordering the GF-4 on CD Japan then realized the price already went up!! Now with the price increase I would choose the Grande brushes. The hairs are better and the handle/ ferrule are more luxurious.
