True, but fusing with the dogs instead of the human kind of disappointed me. A darkin fusing with a human is always interesting, but fusing with an animal, depends on what the animal is, and the dog feels like a very unimpressive animal cuz we're very used to dogs as our friends, a wolf or tiger would've been interesting. But i'm so ready to see what this champion will be, maybe they compensate for that by making it good enough.

Yeah it looks cool af I just hope it's not actually just a plain boring champ like Belveth tho. I had high hopes for her too but I feel Riot failed to make her actual gameplay as cool as her. They could have made something much more fun with a Manta Ray than just Manta Ray turns into machine gun... That doesn't fit at all IMO and is just boring. I don't know what they were thinking with that. Most boring champ I've ever played, and I've tried pretty much all the champions since I started playing 11 years ago. Belveth is bottom tier, like champs released more than 7-14 years ago still have better gameplay designs than new releases. Riot running out of new ideas or lost their passion? And then lets not even speak about the abominations Samira and Seraphine which are just champs made from already pre existing champions...

What's so interesting about this Darkin is that Naafiri is not a singular being. Rather they are the pack itself. Their consciousness is shared between each hound and there seems to be one main hound Naafiri is using to control the rest. I love this concept!

​@@Karomix3 the thing with Bel'Veth is that she is a monster but specifically a mimic. She mimics whatever her "part" of the void swallows. She's responsible for Icathia hence the human appearence and her name (Bel'Veth was Icathias capital). She's as much of a human as Elise is monster. Naafiri on the other hand is just full on hound (hyena maybe?) with spikes, blades scary pack of other weird monstrous dogs she doesn't have human elements that make her less of a monster. Also with Bel'Veth it's very VERY apparent what Riot was going for, her wings look like arms ready to embrace someone, the rest of her lower body resembles human legs.

I love the brief glimpse into the void as the transformation begins, the PTSD the Darkin have from battling and holding back its approach may not be nearly as present in their mind as the trauma they endured fighting their brothers and having to witness the collapse of Shurima and everything they hold dear, but still it lingers, and even more so it calls back to how the Darkin to some extent allowed themselves to be willingly corrupted by the Void to grow their power, and the corruption of the void is something that lingers and takes root with the Darkin's corruption of other living beings. The Darkin are in some way the Void's most succesful and sinister weapon against the entirety of Runeterra, because they don't even realize in their quest for eternal rest that they can only achieve via the destruction of reality, they are carrying out the Void's will.

Looking at the cinematic, was Naafiri the underdog (heh, unintetional) of darkins? She called herself a prey, and we see what could be her former self being chased. Naafiri eating the sun at around 1:38 reminds me of Fenrir eating the sun during Ragnarok! This champion trailer is one of the best we've ever gotten. Edit: In some other versions/interpretations of the myths, his son Skoll eats the sun instead! Skoll and Hati (also Fenrir's son) chase the sun and moon respectively.

Maybe the champion could split to release some dogs to attack, but in exchange lose health and damage from the main pack ? Maybe the champion could command units from a long distance ? Maybe the entire champion would actually play wildly differently, with you telling the dogs where to go and what to do, but them still maintaining a bit of randomness and autonomy in their behavior. Of course not all of these ideas are possible to implement, but that's just what I thought about in 30 seconds while typing the comment. Let's see what the league devs/champion designers thought about for the nearly A YEAR of teasing that champion...
