I have been looking for a step by step tutorial for towels to get the confidence to do some. Thank you for a great tutorial, it was easy to follow and in understand. I’m really excited to see the rest and get started on my own collection of towels.

That helps immensely, thank you so much! As you may have guessed, I have not done a houndstooth pattern before and was concerned about it not looking right by adding the 2 extra threads on each dark and light. Also I don’t have a software program to experiment with. Again thanks for taking the time to answer my question…always learning no matter how long one has been weaving!!!🤗

My mind is blown - I had always thought houndstooth would be a complicated over/over/under variation! Your skills make this looks so easy, along with your clear explanations. It's especially neat to see the houndstooth pattern 'crisp' up after washing/drying. I'm guessing with the turned hem and its straight stitch, the first zigzag stitch is hidden? Thank you so much for this, I look forward to more!

Using colour and weave on a rigid heddle is so achievable! You can definitely do other kinds of houndstooth on a multi shaft loom, but on a rigid heddle it’s so easy! Thank you!

Great video (again), thank you. What brand is your spool holder?
@RigidHeddleWeavinginBrisbaneАй бұрын
hi John. there’s no brand on it, I found it at a local haberdashery here (spotlight, if you are in Oz) and I Think it’s actually for ribbons lol ! and thank you!

As always, a great video. Two things you have likely told us about that I missed, but saw in this video: 1. Tying heddle to back rod to keep even (ok, obvious, but I never thought of) 2. Moving loom instead of yarn when winding on. This is brilliant. I notice you didn’t use a tensioning device. Does this do the same thing? Seems like it would.
@RigidHeddleWeavinginBrisbaneАй бұрын
Hello! Thank you! 1. Yes, I tie the apron rod to the heddle to help with keeping the warp even and help with tension. 2. If my warp is the length of my dining table or shorter, then winding on towards the pegs is my preference, however if the warp length is more, I would use the warping board and the hybrid warping method, and use the tensioning device to wind on. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much. Really enjoyed your detailed process. Love the houndstooth pattern! One question: re the board with the black hooks … is that something you made or is that an Ashford extra? I’ve watched other R D videos and have not seen it before. Thx, Lynda
@RigidHeddleWeavinginBrisbaneАй бұрын
Hi Lynda, this is a coat rack! Haha. I have repurposed it to a peg. It really helps with tension!
@lynda2250Ай бұрын
@ WOW! I should have seen that -- love that idea of repurposing… I’m going to remember that for my future Ridged Heddle Loom!!! I’ve only seen a single peg, or sometimes 2 if it’s a really wide warp, clamped onto a table or window sill. Truly like your idea so much better! Thank you for such a lovely video and explanations.🤗
@lynda225028 күн бұрын
Just wondering,Steph…have you or any of the other weavers ever used the 8/4 cotton with 4 threads light/4 threads dark. If so about how wide would each color be? Thx for any suggestions!🤗
@RigidHeddleWeavinginBrisbane28 күн бұрын
Hi there. Houndstooth pattern world only work with 2 light then 2 dark. If you use 4 light then 4 dark it would be a check pattern. The size would depend on the size of the Heddle. Ie, a 10 dent = 10 ends per inch, or 40 ends per 10cm. Hope that helps!

A very good instructional video, thank you. I would just like some less disturbing music or no music, please.
@RigidHeddleWeavinginBrisbaneАй бұрын
Hi Margaret, thank you! I am getting better at making sure the music doesn’t take over, it’s a tricky job, and there is a lot to learn in editing video’s, and making the videos appealing to everyone. Thanks for your feedback!
