Steph - what a fantastic Log Cabin tutorial - I'm so eager to get started now! The tutorial is comprehensive from analyzing the pattern to warping, weaving, considering salvages and separating pieces. The finishing processes are also methodical and very helpful. Don't kid yourself, you're doing a fantastic job!

I’m so grateful you are showing us all these beautiful designs! I’m soaking it in right now, but I had to pack my loom for a big move next week, so I’ll have to wait to weave again. It will be hard to decide which design to start with. Take your time filming the rest! You will get to them all eventually and we will be very glad to see them when they do.🥰

Your videos are great. You have very good camera angles and your instructions are concise and easy for all ranges of weaving expertise! I have made many instructional videos and I know how time consuming and frustrating they can be to produce. Just when you think it’s done as you review it again you find another thing that needs to be edited.😩 Please ignore the judgmental comments and keep on making videos for those who care about making handmade instead of mass produced goods.

Thanks Steph! I found your KZbin channel last night. I am from Far North Qld and teaching myself to spin and weave by using KZbin. Can you demonstrate (not in relation to this demo) how you bring the change of colour up through the salvage without cutting it off each time when you have a larger block of the one colour? Hope that makes sense.

Hello Qlder! Yes. I’m planning a series of videos in the new year aimed at new weavers, which will cover this. Thank you!

What beautiful towels! Thank you for another informative and inspiring video. I like using a heavier iron, too. I’m always tempted by the cuteness of the wee Oliso but then I use my trusty heavy Rowenta and am so pleased with the results. You talk about ensuring neat edges and I’d like to request a video that dives into this topic more. How much tension on the warp? How much weft angle? Does it matter whether there is a slot or hole in the up threads of a pick? Do you pinch the edge threads when making a pick? All the deets, please!

I’m a fairly new weaver (May ) but I am having a little trouble understanding the threading! Will the threads be crossed behind the heddle? I am 76 and I guess it takes a little more for me to understand some things😂😂😂. Thank you so much! I love your videos!)
@RigidHeddleWeavinginBrisbane28 күн бұрын
Hello! Welcome to weaving 😊. Some threads are moved, and some do cross, however the cross is minimal. The diagram shows the placement, the 1’s are slots and the 2’s are holes. Hope this helps!

Morning / Evening Steph, is it possible you might demonstrate an easy towel with a pick up stick? Perhaps there is one already? If so can you direct me? Many thanks for all your help xx

Hi Kate! I haven’t got one for towels, but I have several other projects planned for 2025 with pick up sticks. But you have given me an idea for the next towel series 😊 thank you so much for your support, it means a lot to me and I feel very humbled!

Also are you retreading all slots and holes as you go as it doesn’t show that but the threads obviously have been moved in slots? Sorry I’m so hard-headed! I’m from Texas 🤷🏼♀️

Hello again! All questions are welcome, and threading for a log cabin can take a while for anyone to get their head around as a beginner! I’m planning to do written instructions as part of my website launch in January so this may help you more, especially in conjunction with the video’s. Thank you for watching!

What kind of hooks are you using for your warping “pegs”? In the video they look like “3-M Command strip stick on hooks”. Or are you using a hook that must be screwed to the board? I would like to build one but I am concerned about durability of stick on vs. screw on hooks. I suppose there is not a lot of tension since you are not using them to tension the warp as you would be after winding on. I’ve never seen this method and I am looking for an alternative to the one or two peg system.

Do the metal springy strips on the apron bar wear out? They seem very flexible but also quite thin.
@RigidHeddleWeavinginBrisbaneАй бұрын
Hello! These are made from plastic, and yes they do wear out. I replace them every couple of years. I have been thinking of replacing them completely with texolv cord, and will make a video about it in the new year. 😊
