Hehe, I so know this feeling! Once I have the loom dressed, the weaving usually goes fast enough

The info on the plastic shuttle is very interesting, your right, it seems contrary to what you would expect. I'm thinking of trying a plastic shuttle on my rigid heddle. I also have the same Brother sewing machine and I love it. The weight of this Brother machine beats my old lugable Viking, I used to call it THE TANK.

IMO the little imperfections make those towels so much better. It adds a warm feeling and gives them a character. If I were to buy something like this from a artisan, I would want a towel set that had some of those!

Thank you for the inspiration! It’s good to know that people still appreciate the slight imperfections in handmade items 😀

What a huge amount of work and an amazing payoff!

It really was a lot of work! Filming it and trying to organize my thoughts in a coherent and entertaining way was also a huge challenge. Happy it came together and is at least watchable!

Very nice job on your project. I was impressed, the tension looked perfect even after 11 months, and a long warp. A fun weaving weft tip, you can split the plies of your yarn for color change, discard one of the pies and do your same tucking of the tail in the same shed. Once you beat it down, the two single ply’s would be the same exact thickness as your yarn. Great job on the video and looking forward to seeing how you get great tension on your warp.

Thanks! I was also surprised that the tension stayed after so long. I do know about the split ply color change, I’m just too lazy to do it, especially on the multiple changes for plaid 😅 I appreciate your feedback though!

I would be so intimidated trying to do the plaid. You must be very skilled and paitient! 😂❤

It’s really not too bad! Once you get the hang of all the things you need to keep track of, it’s pretty smooth 😅 I appreciate the kind words!

I enjoyed watching your tee towel video. I have subscribed. So happy to have found your channel. I'm a weaver who is getting ready to warp up some towels myself for Christmas gifts. Yours are wonderful. Is it a twill draft? What size are they now that they are finished. What sewing machine do you have? And is your loom a Harrisville? I have a 4-shaft Baby Wolf.

Thank you so much for subscribing and for your kind words! I’m thrilled to hear you’re getting ready to weave towels for Christmas gifts. I weave on a Leclerc Mira 2, and my towels are approximately 18x30 inches, though I eyeballed the measurements and didn’t take them precisely. For sewing, I use a Brother SE1900, which handles both sewing and embroidery. Good luck with your weaving, and happy weaving for the holidays!

I really like your floor loom. It looks simpler than some I've seen. May I ask what model it is? Your towels came out beautifully! It's such a pleasure to use things you made yourself, isn't it?

Thanks! I love it too! It’s a counter balance loom that was made in the late 80s/early 90s that I bought from an older gentleman when I lived in North Carolina. I believe it’s a Mira 2 made by Leclerc. It also looks suspiciously similar to a Fanny loom by the same company. I like to think of it as a Mira, though. I absolutely love my using the towels I made myself. I appreciate your comments!

Yep, it’s a Leclerc Mira. The Mira has a fixed warp beam, the nearly identical Fanny loom has a folding warp beam to reduce front-to-back dimension for storage or moving through doorways. Both are easy to use, quiet, and nice to treadle.

Thank you for that. What yarn etc did you use?
@Sticatto2 ай бұрын
I used some random 8/2 cotton that I bought from Peter Patchis yarn club. It’s a monthly email with crazy deals on weaving yarn. I believe I got 1lb of each colors for about $8.00 each!
