The congregation had no idea what they had there....Dr. Noble, Nordic Choir & Dr. Swann. It doesn't get much better than that, folks.

I was there on this day and sang in this choir. It was such an honor to be there and sing I. Such a gorgeous church! It was an emotional song to sing and still chokes me up a little bit to see it.

This performance took my breath away. When they sang the AMEN I felt like I had a taste of heaven. THANK YOU for your beautiful and inspired singing. 🙏

This is truly the most moving and beautifully sung choral piece that I've ever heard. I have sent it to all of my singers and friends to be inspired. The ending is like being in Heaven. THANK ALL OF YOU!!!!!❤

This is a remarkable performance in an incredible venue by a top-notch college choir under the direction of a fine conductor and accompanied by a talented organist playing a massive organ. That sentence may not be grammatically correct, but it is factually correct! Thank you, Nordic Choir, Weston Noble, and Frederick Swann. Your work on this day many years ago has not been forgotten!

WESTON NOBLE had so many definitive recordings and performances of stellar music compositions. I had the opportunity on two occasions, yrs. apart, for which I am eternally grateful, to be part of massed choirs under his tutelage, guidance, and spiritual direction. On several occasions during those two weeks, I testify that The Holy Spirit made His divine presence known to all present. Soli Deo Gloria!

@J Tidwell - Truly this is one of the top five available choral recordings of this glorious text and tune. Fred and Weston are/were revered friends and colleagues for Gil and he loves this presentation of When I Survey. The Nordic Choir and Luther College are stellar organizations worthy of the highest accolades. Thanks for your comment. ~ David Comer-Anderson, M.M. (POA Gilbert M. Martin)

This is breathtakingly beautiful. I belong to what I call a "senior congregation". We have members in our choir that range in age from 30 to 93 (!). We've sung this and many of us have been overwhelmed by the words and our own beloved choir director showing us that, at any age, we can sing praises to God. To God be the glory. Love and thanks for sharing your talents with us, Nordic Choir from Luther, Decorah, IA.

RIP Dr. Fred Swann the master of The Hazel Wright Organ. I'm happy that he gets the opportunity to be on the restoration community to save Hazel Wright Organ to continue her legacy on Christ Cathedral after she been with Crystal Cathedral for many years. Thank you Dr. Swann for helping us to fall in love with The Hazel Wright Organ sounds of the magnificent pipes to sing loud and proud

Whether it is Dr. Weston Noble or Dr. Donald Neuen conducting with Dr. Frederick Swann at the organ accompanying Gilbert Martin's all-time finest anthem, "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross," you will have been exceedingly blessed and hopefully moved to tears. When GOD brings together people of their stature - or others similarly gifted and with purity of heart - you can rest assured to be moved upon by the Holy Spirit. The subject matter is the key.

I sang with Nordic at this church in 1984. Awesome piece. Memorable experience to say the least. The floor "rumbled" at an incredibly slow rate (like an ocean wave) at the organ's lowest notes.

Not with proper loudspeakers! But I also heard a G on my laptop. Guess it's some harmonic of the bass note.
