Unpopular opinion: I LOVE the 2 finishing powders, I use them the most and all over the face so it makes sense to have more of them, as opposed to blushes, where you essentially just use them in one small area of your cheek.

I really wish that Hourglass would consider a true "build your own pallette" where you could choose 6 of any of the finishing powders, highlighters, bronzers and blushes to create your perfect pallette, even at a higher cost. That would allow people to choose 6 blushes, if they wanted, or to pull a blush from each pallette option, etc. and create the perfect pallette for them. Not everyone can afford a $90 pallette each year. It's more of a, "once in a decade" type of purchase. As such, I can't really justify a pallette with two finishing powders in it and I'm far too fair for the medium pallette. I'm totally willing to save and invest in a pallette, as I'd love to try Hourglass powders, but I just can't justify the price point if it isn't darn near perfect. I'd totally pay more than the $90 price point for the ability to create my perfect pallette, though!

New sub here! Great review. So, I'm 67, I recently got on the HG bandwagon. I just picked up the dragon today, i also bought the Barney's and the Evil eye, along with 3 blushes, 2 finishing powders, and the 3 pan. Yes, i went a bit crazy, but I am done now. I have mature skin, I'm pretty medium, but all of what I've purchased works so nice, lots of great variety. I'm absolutely hooked on HG Ambient lighting powders!

For fair complexions that might want a red or rose blush close to the one in the darkest palette this year there is a 3 pan palette still available from hourglass that has a rose color blush a highlight and a fair skin friendly finishing powder

I think it’s more of a marketing gimmick than anything. It’s also for legal (health) reasons that makeup expires. If you’re the only one using it, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. If I end up buying one I’ll use it for the next 10 years

I’m a light medium in winter months and then a full medium/tan in the summer months and it always falls down to the bronzer for me, last years were too warm but this years Evil eye is seriously winning for me..I justify it by arguing that as long as I use at least 3 of the pans, it’s cheaper than buying them individually…😂

Wish they'd make that bronzer a permanent single. I usually get the first 1 or 2 colourway palette(s) at launch & then a palette for 20% off in the Sephora sale. I bought the dragon and the medium palette but customized the medium palette with the lotus blossom cover. Wasn’t crazy about the evil eye cover. The dragon palette highlight does leave a slight cast on me and I’m really fair, but it’s okay if you go in with a reaaally light hand or very fluffy brush ☺️ I also have cool tone skin so that might be why! But it’s super pretty as an inner corner highlight/eyeshadow topper so I’ll mostly be using it that way!

I think it’s because they’re very intense strobe powders but if you like the other shades in the palette you could definitely work with it - people have suggested mixing with the finishing powders! ☺️ I still love both of mine 🩷

Hourglass palettes have almost replace my need for eyeshadow. I got the lightest palette with the lotus flowers. I like the fact that the two finishing powders have different undertones. With the Jellyfish palette I use the lightest under my eyes and it’s beautiful! I use the shades as eyeshadow to “set” eyeshadow sticks. The combo of the highlighters on top of a Nudestix shadow stick is perfection. It’s almost a complete face for me! I wish they would come out with a powder foundation Their formula in a powder foundation would be gold!

Literally! I’d be happy with all blushes hahaha. Fourth year in a row I’ve been paying attention to these only to not buy them lol. Waiting for the perfect one that’s probably never going to come 😂 I have Nude Bronze Light & Sublime Flush and especially love the bronzer but am not into the finishing powder I have, and have seen how bad some of the highlighters are. Love the blush & bronzer formula but also wish they had a more inclusive line so I could use them on all skintones in my MUA kit! I can’t see the deep one working on truly deep dark skintones. For the fair one I would prefer a palette with just bronzers and blushes, a contour powder with maaaybe one finishing powder and none of the highlighters lmao. Definitely going to try what Morgan did with her finishing powders tomorrow though! Why does the medium palette get three blushes 😢

Both would work- they’re sheer but buildable , just check hues/warmth compatibility. Best to check in store if possible , as shades can pull/swatch differently from pan on skin.Also watch a few other reviewers to get an idea different techniques/applications/skin tones x

The highlights in the deepest palette will make beautiful eyeshadows! I ordered mine yesterday. I chose the medium/evil eye color story in the dragon packaging something about the gold packaging speaks to me, even though I love flowers I wasn’t thrilled with the Lotus artwork. It looked too childish to me…. I am so excited that these are new colors ! I have a feeling these are going to sell out quickly due to the fact that they have new colors so I decided to get on it yesterday… Now that I’ve seen your video, I think I’m OK with my selection …

“Im being ridiculous” we love a self aware queen 😂❤ I haven’t ever bought one of these since I just am never fully satisfied with the color schemes and choices haha but I have nude bronze light & sublime flush, both which I love especially the bronzer. I also have the pinky finishing powder which I’m totally going to be trying your technique with tomorrow! Loved how easily and seamlessly it blended everything together. I sometimes use it under my eyes to set concealer but will be trying that ASAP! Loved this video even though this will be the 4th year I’m skipping in a row. I want one with three blushes, a good bronzer and nice contour shade and maaaybe one finishing powder. But no highlight since I don’t like that formula 😂 I know that’s probably wishful thinking. I should have gotten last years palette but I was too broke lmao. Maybe next time! Still love seeing what you do with them and I hope anyone who gets these loves them! Do really wish they’d do four palettes and make a really nice deep dark version, so many of my black makeup loving friends are disappointed year after year for being excluded. I hope that it works on your friend’s skintone! So exciting she’s getting married, would love to see that on your IG or something at some point (if she allows it) so we can see how that palette worked out for her! ❤
