I was obsessed with Hourglass for years, I have tons of their products. This brand still has my heart ❤ BUT. I'm tired of disrespect towards ppl with deeper skin tones, I'm tired of hoping too see my friends playing and enjoying makeup all together. Honestly I would be more excited to see this collection fully made for poc only, because let's be real- how many blushes, bronzers and powders did this brand make with all the possible undertones for us fair-light people?!? They will not get my money until they release shades that we have been asking for years. 😤 I stopped recommending them as well, also buying as presents. Hourglass’ representation is lacking. For darker tones especially. I can barely use their holiday palettes because it’s always too dark for my fair skin. A company this bougee should have an option for everyone. But the lean towards whiteness is a major issue.

I was just coming in here to tell you that I admire you and watch nearly all of your videos, but seeing all of the glowing HG reviews from gurus I respect and admire just ignore the fact that a very large part of their viewers are people of color who are being ignored, it really does hurt our feelings. It shouldn't, because it's just makeup, but we love makeup just as much as anyone else and we don't want to be left behind. Thank you for speaking up for our, hopefully, other influencers and customers will continue to do the same.

I think I might get the mini palette because I missed out on last year’s ghost unlocked palette. Thanks for sharing how to buff under the eye...I’ve been using the same powder but never got the same brightening effect.

Mel - I purchased the Sonia G brush when it came out and I received it yesterday. Thank you so much for the buffing tutorial. As for the HG palettes, I love the quad but I have those shades! I am also disappointed that they aren’t making shades for darker skin tones. I have several girlfriends with darker skin that would love to use HG but can’t. It’s almost 2021 and I am going to have to start dropping brands that all skin tones can’t use. I feel like things won’t change unless consumers start voting with their dollars.

Hourglass are fully aware that these powders do not cater to deeper skin tones which is the main reason I don’t buy their powders anymore. I’m not saying that they don’t have anything for my skin tone at all but the fact that not all their base products are inclusive is definitely a let down for me, making me less exicited their limited edition releases because it’s always the same thing in different stylish packaging.

I am fair skinned and I love the quality of Hourglass products, however, I expect at this price point for a company to cater to ALL women! It is not acceptable to me that I can’t purchase their products for my friends (which I totally would if they had colors they could wear). We enjoy makeup so much and when I decided to get everyone makeup for Christmas a few years ago, I realized just how many companies excluded deeper skin tones. It was eye opening for sure! They can and should do better!

As for Hourglass, I don’t know if they will ever change because this has been going on for a long long LONG while now, and at this point, after everything we’ve been through and learned this year, there’s just no excuse. So I will not be purchasing any more products from them until they make a BIG change. Customer service should always come first which means, listening to your customers.

I bought the unlocked palette when they re-released it in 2019 and I love it. There is a nude/peach blush in that palette that I can’t find anywhere else and I use it everyday bc I prefer a peachy/glowy -- sort of understated blush. I don’t know where I read it or who said it, but quoting them “you can’t boycott somebody, who doesn’t care about you” . Hourglass doesn’t care about anyone above medium deep and I say this as a tan individual, and none of the powders have worked for me. I thought this year was going to be different, but it wasn’t so. I for one will not spend that amount of money on a company that leaves people with darker skin tones out and I know many people who feel the same. I haven't purchased any of the Hourglass powders yet, I'm grabbing the Mini because that's the first palette that's called to me. Theory for the lack of shades for deeper skin tones: Maybe the formula of the powders create a cast/ ashy look? I really hope they're working on it. Seems like something so silly to lose business over, considering that their foundation range has shades for deeper skin tones.

Hi Mel! Brava for you for giving your two cents about Hourglass shade range. It’s so insane to me that constant feedback I’m hearing (and echoing that feedback myself) is to make products for those who have DEEPER COMPLEXIONS! Do they not care??? I don’t get it. I’m not usually one to tell others what to do in the least however, I’m going to put my money where my mouth is and not purchase from them anymore unless they make some changes. I think many of us as a beauty COMMUNITY should do this, together, in order to have an impact and be heard. Which sucks because I ADORE Hourglass powders! I definitely understand where you are coming from with wishing they would do something different. However, I personally love that they somewhat stay the same because I bought my first 6 pan palette last year (the ghost) & hit pan on 3 shades. So I kind of relied on them to give me another everyday palette. Maybe release one like this, & then something truly different? I'm not sure. I can see it from both sides for sure!! I have no idea why I didn't get a notification for this video, I have all notifications in for you, always! I'm debating one of those Hourglass holiday palettes, I've never had one. I only get a large size of the ethereal light for my finishing powder, it's my go to for my super fair skin. But I've always wanted to try a bronzer and blush and highlighter too! The minute beautylish sent me a peek at that brush, I wanted it, I'm still looking for my perfect buffer and that one looks so good. I have a couple Sonia g eye brushes, but no face ones yet! I do plan on getting the Unlocked Quad, but not the larger 6-pan Sculpture palette. Mainly because I can use all 4 shades in the quad, even the very light yellowish finishing powder can be used to set my undereye concealer, I believe. I so wish Hourglass would listen to their consumers and create 2-3 different versions of their palettes to include all complexion tones. Thank you speaking about hourglass powder products. I have cool neutral undertones and wear complexion products in the MAC NW47 range. Hourglass definitely has nothing for me in that range. I have definitely been keeping my eye on these brands that have good brushes. Haven't made the switc yet, this would be a good opportunity to try it out. I would love to be entered in your giveaway. I really can't wait to get the mini quad and the lipstick set. Unfortunately Hourglass does not ship to Canada. Sephora and Beautylish still do not have these items. Hi Mel, I would love to try Sonia’s brush but I am much more interested in trying your Sydney Grace pallet. I have ordered it and it has been shipped but I am in Australia 🇦🇺 and things are taking longer due to covid. There have been lots of new eyeshadow pallets out but I think that your will cover most of what I want/need. I was hoping you would review the holiday palette! I’m worried the bronzer is too deep for me and the highlighter not glowy enough. Debating whether to put this on my Xmas wishlist. I just adore the packaging!!! I also think it’s crazy that HG hasn’t listened to feedback and released more inclusive holiday palettes! Maybe that’s a good reason not to buy it this year. I’m pale; hourglass works for me. But come on - is it that hard to do a light and deep version of the pallet? That being said, mood exposure is my least favorite shade and I’m pretty much just wearing eye stuff with my mask these days. Maybe next year. 🤷‍♀️ That brush looks yummy!

Are the people at Hourglass just not listening or are they completely ignorant to the mood of a nation? Last year we said the same... “Where’s the deeper shades palette?” Instead they put out an edited palette of last year’s shades! I mean, really?! Given everything that has happened this year, with Covid-19 and especially the BLM movement, if Hourglass don’t have a big change soon I think a lot of people will begin to boycott their products. No-one will miss out because they will already have the shades - twice over probably - and we are now making more considered purchases not repetitive splurges. Hourglass are beginning to stink.

I have the Hourglass Edit 4, the kind of purpley one and I absolutely love it! I also have the Ghost blush quad and the Metallic Strobe lighting palette that they re released this year and also and single of Ethereal Light that i use under my eyes and I live them all. I think the only way to get HG attention is maybe to call them out on Twitter. It’s really ridiculous at this point and I love them so much. I am dying for those lipsticks!!!
