I think Hourglass powder complexion products make a huge difference on mature skin. They don’t look heavy and powdery but light and can be built up but kind of dummy proof. As my skin gets drier with age, I appreciate them and feel they’re worth the price.

For me the Hourglass powders there’s something very special about not just the shade but the way they interact with my skin. The shades are subtle, but the pigment in the blushes lasts. I can find great blush shades in lots of price points, but many many blushes are just gone within 2 hours. Somehow, these blushes just last. I don’t like to pay the luxury makeup prices of these products, but I got one of those 6-pan face palettes and it’s worth it for me.

Just a tip for those who have a hard time with eyeshadow application like I do, I’ve found that the ambient lighting powders worked over some harsh lines blends it beautifully! Give it a try, because they have this blurring effect to the skin, it’s great for cleaning up any eyeshadow mistakes! 💕

I use the diffused light to set my undereyes it’s wonderful for that purpose because it’s so finely milled it nicely brightens the area without looking cakey and without creasing .. I have also used it as a allover buffing/finishing powder after setting my face it adds a little bit of luminosity to the skin while still being a matte powder it’s really a nice product ..if you are looking for a dupe the Milani prep set and glow is similiar as well as the wet n wild cabana boy shade of their bronzer which we all know isn’t a bronzer it has micro particles that brighten the skin it’s one of thiose products you would nevrr think of using as a face powder ..
@PigeoneerToy4 жыл бұрын
*Emilyyy! 😱 **8:05** you're not getting the full potential of your diffused light powder, that's why you're not jumping up and down about them **8:28** 😂😂😂 They're designed to mimic different types of light (candlelight, moonlight, diffused light, etc.) to blur the imperfections without looking powdery or obvious without adding texture, even on mature skin. If people did this instead of baking they would avoid looking dry, crusty and creasy on the undereye area. **8:44** there are some special and multiple uses for those powders. I'm linking another youtuber's video since that's better than me trying to write out the whole thing* kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpuQeKt8r6-blaM *Stephanie Nicole also has very in-depth reviews on these powders, what each one does and how to choose the best for you. Hope this helps to anyone reading this*

Tip for those with oily eyelids like me - instead of using one layer of eyeshadow primer, use two very thin layers and let them dry 30 seconds to a minute in between application. I use the milani as it's the best for the price. Two very thin layers and my shadow will not budge

Emily thank you for doing this. I usually don't put my 2 cents in but this time I will. I love the way you look your face is FLAWLESS like a model!!!! Love their powders and I love their primer it has noticeably when I apply it with my finger hide my one line under my eye like magic (I am 55 years old). The blushes are nice but I can get a great blush look from Beauty Bakerie for a lot less. The primer truly made a difference for me. The setting spray is very nice but I feel like I can get that with UD All nighter too. Never tried the eye shadows. HINT: Try using the Hourglass primer on top of your Hard Candy smoothing primer OMG it's soooooo good. I use it over Tacha, over Tarte smoothless primer, over ELF putty primer it's a great addition to what you already use there is something in there that keeps you from getting oily and makeup stays on until you go to bed! LOL

The ambient powders are best used as a finishing powder. After you apply all of your makeup, buff some of that powder all over your skin and it helps to meld your highlight, blush and bronzer together and gives your skin an airbrush, creamy finish.

@hopelessromantic86824 жыл бұрын
(I was told;) The Hourglass finishing powders are just that, finishing powder. Once you finish all your face makeup, gently sweep the powder over the face and it gives you a diffused glowing look. They won’t work as setting powder or for just a highlight. 🤷🏼♀️ That’s what a makeup artist told me. 😉
@AshleyLamora4 жыл бұрын
Hourglass is an investment but SO WORTH IT. Takes years to go through their powders. Essence glow for it is a dupe for the ambient powders. Alsojoahmakes a white veil primer dupe for the hourglass. I find the loreal shake and glow is a dupe for the setting spray. The revlon 1.5mm black liner is also a dupe for their eyeliner. And finally the nyx on the rise is a dupe for the caution mascara. I also find for the gloss the loreal color riche lip glossy lipsticks especially in glossy fawn is a dupe for the hourglass lipgloss. Oh my how cute is he!

Hourglass is a stand out brand 100%! They are cruelty-free and completely vegan as well which is worth mentioning for your audience. Their products are IDEAL for dry and mature skin as well, those people who would normally never use a finishing powder or a setting powder. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend is their liquid foundations but everything else in their line is superb!! 🤍 I mean superb!! Worth every dollar 💵
@tabithabell95684 жыл бұрын
Firstly, love the Rhett cameo! 🥰 Secondly, to me what sets Hourglass apart is the high quality ingredients. I have super sensitive acneic skin and there are ingredients that aggravate it, such as talc, mineral oil, coconut oil, etc. The Hourglass powders don't contain talc! 🙌 The Ambient Lighting Powders are amazing for brightening and blending. I use Ethereal under my eyes, and Luminous is fantastic all over the face to blend and diffuse all my other products together. While there are other less expensive options to achieve a similar look, there aren't any that achieve the same look with the same ingredients.
@Kstar3273 жыл бұрын
I have oily skin in the summer and combo skin spring/fall/winter and I swear by the hourglass mineral veil primer I have been using it for about 5 years its expensive but you use so little of it that I buy the value size and it lasts me about 2 years. I am also in my early 50's and I find that hourglass face products powder, blush bronzer powders are so fine and don't attract attention to my textured skin or fine lines. I used to use Laura Mericer loose powder but now I use the Hourglass veil finishing powder as well as the pressed powder.

I really enjoy using Dim Light under my eyes to set my concealer. Oddly enough, I also enjoy using it like a soft “bronzer” on no-makeup days. Idk how since it’s not very dark... but it is peachy enough on my skin tone to look really nice. I also use dim light as a eyeshadow base on no-makeup days too. I build it up as much as I can and then put something light like the Charlotte Tilbury cream shadow in jean on top. So pretty! Thank you for putting this video together! Really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on Hourglass.

The more I see that shade of blush you have from hourglass, the more it reminds me of the pink glowy blush from Found Cosmetics! I have always heard that the face products from hourglass are the smoothest and easiest to blend. Jamie Paige also loves that scattered light shadow; it seems popular with lots of folks, so I'm intrigued by the formula.

Hourglass setting powder kicks Laura Mercier to the curb because Hourglass doesn’t contain talc which draws moisture out of your skin. It’s a terrific powder for dry & mature skin. Overall, they have some of my most favorite and treasured products that cannot be duped at the drugstore.

I used it as a last step over the areas where KZbinrs “highlight” with concealer. I have naturally blue undertones under my eyes. This product brightens the crap out of that area and everywhere else I put it. People comment on my makeup & skin but I really think they’re just complimenting this product on my skin. I bought a full size 3 years ago and am just now running out so the value is there when you’re looking at the price. And just a dab will do ya! I just rediscovered an almost used up Ambient Lighting Powder in Mood Light and fell in love all over again to the extent that I ordered a new one from Sephora. My favorite bronzer is Radiant Bronze Light. Took me at least four years to get through one compact, and that's with using it nearly every day! I use the Diffused Light ambient lighting powder for color correction on my red areas. It really does help but still looks very natural and not heavy. I’ve also used it to set my under eyes and tone down things when I overapply other color products. I will always have it in my collection. I also use the Dim Light as a bronzer/contour in colder months when I’m at my palest (very fair). It helps me avoid overapplication and the orange tone that most bronzers give me.

*Yes, yes, yes, Emily! You should definitely be using the Ambient Lighting powder! Once you've finished your makeup (but before lip products) get a big fluffy powder brush and swirl it into the Diffused Light Ambient powder and buff it all over your face. One side at a time. Not only will it add a beautiful, subtle glow to the skin but it ensures you have no harsh lines or edges and makes your complexion products look seamless! This would have been an excellent thing to do with this particular look because it was so very matte.*

Emily, the scattered light works best with a cream eyeshadow. No primer or powder shadow needed. I usually use the Charlotte tilbury Antoinette cream shadow (try your infallible eyeshadow instead) and layer with scattered lights (i use ray). Such an easy look to do and It gives my eyes a glam put together something extra. Ps your son is so cute!

I really love that bronzer! I have one of their blushes in mood exposure. It's the mini size, a go to for me, and it is lasting forevvveerrrr. so I picked up the mini bronzer! so worth it!

The only product of theirs that I've been drawn to, and totally love is their Veil Primer. It helps my skin look great on its own, but also helps my foundation last longer. I've always been curious about their blushes, but I love matte blush too much.

Lovely look Emily! I recently purchased the Hourglass eyelid primer and I really found it kept my shadow in good shape all day! I’m a nurse and I’m wearing a mask all day so the only part that is visible is my eyes. Now we are also wearing eye protections well, and things can become quite swampy with all the condensation. The Urban Decay eye potion was not stopping me from creasing. When the Hourglass eye primer runs dry, maybe I’ll try the Milani one, probably one-third the price. ~Regina~

Emily, I just have to say that this makeup looks especially nice on you. I think you do drug store makeup well as you can make anything look great but there was something about this that looked more "high end". I so agree about that bronzer. Waiting until I use a little more in one of those big holiday palettes before I spring for this one. Your little boy is so adorable!

I have never felt any powders that were as soft and beautiful as hourglass powders.

I’ve been using diffused light ambient powder for years strictly as an under eye setting powder!! (And to set my primer on my lids). It sets it just enough to prevent creasing but without making me look dry, and deflects the light perfectly! Try it!

Thank you, Emily :) Hourglass is one of those, "mysterious" brands for me, too. I've used the Dim Light powder with mixed success, always writing it off to user error, lol. I gifted the Aura scattered light shadow to my daughter, too. I think you look beautiful and seeing baby Rhett was just a bonus! XO

Love your yellow necklace with the pink tee in this vid. I also am loving the hourglass ambient glow at the moment.

I don't know but I did notice a difference after the setting spray before Emily said she didn't think it had any soft focus effect. I thought it did work and it made her look ethereal.

I’m a big, big fan of the ambient lighting powders. They just add that certain something and the end “product” just looks better (I’m 48). Also really love the bronzer and blush.

Thank you for the demo. My favorite product is the lip treatment oil by far. Pricey yes, but very very well worth it. Amazing product....

I totally agree with you. The ambient lighting bronzer in diffused is amazing! I also have the luminous flush blush and I find although the colour isn't unique, the staying power is incredible and the application is foolproof. Thank you for your amazing review I thoroughly enjoyed it. 😁

I LOVE my Ambiant Lighting Powder to set my undereyes. I hate having my undereyes look dry and crepie, with that magical powder, they look smoothe and hydrated. I also buff all of my make-up at the end of blush, bronzer, highlight. Makes everything melt all together and look seamless and airbrushed.

No reflection on your video - which I loved - but I can’t believe they called that foundation shade “nude” - shouldn’t all foundations look nude on the individual? I commented on their Instagram about this. I’ve always wanted to try hourglass and respect the quality of their products but we need to challenge these brands where they are wrong.
@isthatjackson4 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. “Nude” being used to equate to a white person is icky. Good for you for speaking up on something you noticed. I think I prefer number naming systems for foundations instead of names.

I always enjoy your videos they are cheerful and loaded with wonderful product information. I really liked the sweet little addition at the end, Rett is so adorable as are the girls. You have been blessed with a beautiful family.
