Always close doors behind you. Front doors, back doors, room doors. Leaving them open brings oxygen to the fire. Closing them buys you time.
@hosedragger-2042 жыл бұрын
I was about to say this. Modern homes are so tightly sealed that by the time we arrive on the engine, the fire has used up most available oxygen and has settled down to a slow smoldering. The downside is that once the door is popped, it usually results in a backdraft occuring due to the fuel rich smoke build up

Excellent job by PD. They woke the kid up from his stupor and told outside team where he was. No complaints at all. Yea doors should have been closed but they also could have been only beacons for egress if someone was in there and lost. Heroes all around.
@danielpotyok74462 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, you can see the pattern of smoke sucking into the house when they opened that front door. That is a vacuum as the fire is consuming all the oxygen, the opened door becomes a fuel point for the fire. The door being left open in the front totally fed that fire. By the time they got to the back and opened that door, the smoke pattern had changed and smoke is billowing out as the radiating heat is causing air expansion and forcing smoke out. That was all on account of open doors. Inside occupant should've been advised to close their door and block the air gap on the bottom with clothing, sheets or towels and open their closest window. That rapid spread was from open doors. Too bad about the damage and the loss of the dog.

While I appreciate the spirit of cooperation and having the desire to help, there has to come a point where PD backs out and lets fire take over. Keeping doors open, taking down ladders, and generally being in the hot zone without any ppe is just asking for something to go wrong. That rapid fire growth on the first floor at the 4:40 mark is directly due to the officers leaving the door open. The training and roles are separate for a reason. It doesn't take much to go from rescuer to one who needs to have resources diverted to be rescued because they were winging it. FD doesn't go into active shooter scenes to take down a gunman and doesn't tase unruly folks on emergency scenes because there is a span of expertise that has to be observed. Know your roles and work together.

Tragically no. Frisco FD took WAYYYY TOO LONG to get a charged hose on that fire and then a Frisco Fire officer completely dismissed that the dog was still inside and said “everybody is out of the house”. That’s was a completely circus show of a scene. With as heavy is that smoke was, that dog was most likely already unconscious which is why he didn’t run out when the door opened. We see it a lot unfortunately. That smoke was already at the floor… only takes 2-3 minutes. There was zero sense of urgency to get the dying dog out, even after the owner said it like 10 times. LIFE SAFETY FIRST, ALWAYS!!!

Close the freaking doors. You absolutely created a flow path for the fire to rapidly spread and worsen conditions. Also, please don’t take down ladders after a fireman puts it up. That could be a lifesaving egress point for a firefighter inside that gets overcome with high heat.
@chinookh47132 жыл бұрын
PSA: never take down the ladders unless you are told by the chief, gives FD a way to get out in a hurry the other day their was a fire in the area and the fire fighter was left dangling as he had to escape a flashover
@robertsimmons-m4z4 ай бұрын
Police need to be taught. Don’t open up windows and doors on a house fire. They introduced air into house which caused fire to spread luckily didn’t trap victim.

PD made the fire worse.. they need fire education in case of situations like this. Besides that can still say they did a good job. Doing something is better than sitting back watching

@BryanSmith7052 жыл бұрын
@@JBart3112 if the driver is the one bringing the ladder, who is going to pump the hose? Life safety above all things. PD located the victim and directed FD to the rear. Officer does a 360, driver and tailboard take the ladder to the rear and make the grab. No wasted movements. Let the next incoming deal with fire attack. My humble opinion of course
@Grounded752 жыл бұрын
Glad everyone was OK but the PD did more harm by opening doors and feeding the fire. Locate the victim, communicate with dispatch, And let FD do their job. You almost became victims rather than first responders. Just saying.
@johnschaefer1242 жыл бұрын
I'm glad those cops made an effort and everything, but you can't run around opening every door. That rapidly introduces oxygen to the fire and can kill the victim. Also, you don't go "get a ladder from fire." You go get fire and let them do it. They aren't there to help the cops.
@justinfinn68502 жыл бұрын
Life safety is def number one priority. But you can’t lose focus of your job/assignment on the fire ground. Everyone went to the rear looking to help that kid. It took entirely too long to get a line in service. Glad to see them making a grab but have to say I was overall disappointed by performance of general fire ground tasks.
