A huge number I imagine. NPCs don't seem to mind if their friends are destroyed by their area of effect spells. Telvanni in particular has a ton of very powerful spellcasters who'll nuke the whole battlefield in the opening seconds of a fight. Another factor is that the Vivec arena is too small for massive battles like this one (NPCs are really clumped up in there), so area of effect spells become even more devastating.

I'm afraid Curio died after the opening salvo of spells. It's a little hard to see, but if you pause the video at 1:02, Curio's corpse should be right behind the uppermost ancestral ghost.

Divayth Fyr dying is unexpected

He's not actually in this fight. I only included NPCs that were listed as being members of either House Hlaalu or House Telvanni in the Construction Set. While Fyr is a respected member of House Telvanni in-game, he's not a member of any faction as per game files. It's debatable whether even Fyr would have made it to the end. He has 999 Health and, like all Dark Elves, a strong innate Fire resistance ability, but the sheer number of spells that were at play here could have been too much for him. My guess is that, had I placed him at the front, he would have died shortly after the initial volley of spells. Looking back, it was silly of me to squeeze so many NPCs in such a small space where a single area-of-effect spell could hit tens or even hundreds(!) of NPCs at once.

No, he's not. Here's the criteria I used to decide whether to count an NPC as a member of a faction: 1. The NPC must be listed as being a member of that faction in the Construction Set (CS). While Divayth Fyr is a member of House Telvanni in-game, he's not listed as such in the CS, so he doesn't make the cut. 2. The NPC must be alive (i.e. have a health at or above 1). This may seem a bit silly, but both Hlaalu and Redoran have a few dead members in their ranks. Hearing their death groans at the start of a fight would make for a very odd experience! (Was it the excitement that killed them?) 3. Multiple entries of the same NPC are counted only once. For example, there are 19 Hlaalu Guards in the game at any given time, but I only included one of them here.

@@theliar4558 Fyr is more of a conjurer type character and mostly uses his magicka to summon Storm Atronachs. Another spell he really likes is Dire Weary (Burden 60-90 pts 10 seconds Target), which is not all that strong.
