A toilet in the same room as a shower and a bath tub is bizarre. I am not sure Americans go anywhere since they do not seem to understand that they are no longer in the US. Furthermore, American standard is not the universal standard.
@seriousbutfunny26 жыл бұрын
I know right. How many Europeans come the the US asking and expecting the toilet to be in a separate room? Different doesn't mean better or worse it just means different. That said, as an American I have come to LOVE the toilet being in a separate area, especially if you live with someone you don't have to deal with that smell in the same area where you are trying to get clean and brush your teeth.

@lygophilia41276 жыл бұрын
I disagree with "bizarre" due to the negative/"strange" connotation. It's just whatever you're used to or personal preferences. I've lived in a house in the US with a water closet. Not a fan of that one for several reasons. This particular one had a sliding pocket door, which I find annoying to use (so I just didn't use it, which defeats the purpose of the water closet). More needless walking to get into it (for non-handicapped people, not such an issue I suppose). It was claustrophobically tiny, despite the entire bathroom including the water closet being larger than most bedrooms. However...my dorm in college had one inside a Jack and Jill style bathroom (connects two rooms), so when there are 4+ people sharing a bathroom, one person could be using the toilet while another was doing her hair/makeup/whatever--in this case it was helpful (and also this one was much larger than the one in the house I lived in). But in my home? No thanks. However, if I was living abroad, I wouldn't be so picky about it.
@cayannap67526 жыл бұрын
There is nothing wrong with asking for what makes you comfortable. Her purpose is to travel more. The fact that 2 of her options had the shower and toilet setup she was looking for means it's okay for that to be on her wishlist. She's not criticising someone else's home. She's picking the features she wants in her own house.

The Victorian houses in San Francisco and Oakland had separate rooms for toilets. I'd care more about location and budget.
