A toilet in the same room as a shower and a bath tub is bizarre. I am not sure Americans go anywhere since they do not seem to understand that they are no longer in the US. Furthermore, American standard is not the universal standard.
@seriousbutfunny2
@seriousbutfunny2 6 жыл бұрын
I know right. How many Europeans come the the US asking and expecting the toilet to be in a separate room? Different doesn't mean better or worse it just means different. That said, as an American I have come to LOVE the toilet being in a separate area, especially if you live with someone you don't have to deal with that smell in the same area where you are trying to get clean and brush your teeth.

I disagree with "bizarre" due to the negative/"strange" connotation. It's just whatever you're used to or personal preferences. I've lived in a house in the US with a water closet. Not a fan of that one for several reasons. This particular one had a sliding pocket door, which I find annoying to use (so I just didn't use it, which defeats the purpose of the water closet). More needless walking to get into it (for non-handicapped people, not such an issue I suppose). It was claustrophobically tiny, despite the entire bathroom including the water closet being larger than most bedrooms. However...my dorm in college had one inside a Jack and Jill style bathroom (connects two rooms), so when there are 4+ people sharing a bathroom, one person could be using the toilet while another was doing her hair/makeup/whatever--in this case it was helpful (and also this one was much larger than the one in the house I lived in). But in my home? No thanks. However, if I was living abroad, I wouldn't be so picky about it.
@cayannap6752

There is nothing wrong with asking for what makes you comfortable. Her purpose is to travel more. The fact that 2 of her options had the shower and toilet setup she was looking for means it's okay for that to be on her wishlist. She's not criticising someone else's home. She's picking the features she wants in her own house.

When she said she wanted an American bathroom I cringed, but she then mentioned a stand up shower. I so, that I have to agree. I can't figure out the "French shower", you sit down. I would just take a bath everyday, instead of spraying the bathroom with water. Separate toilet, I got accustomed to as I saw more properties in my 20's. The Victorian houses in San Francisco and Oakland had separate rooms for toilets. I'd care more about location and budget.

You can't expect to find America in another country - what's the sense of moving then? Embracing a new experience is part of the fun of moving abroad. Also, even from some Pest area there is good and handy access to Buda. Getting round Budapest is very easy. Not sure though whether the statement of "200 dollars get you far when travelling in this area of europe" is true. With her expectations certainly not.

American bedroom, WTF? Studio with open kitchen is big NO for me. No, no, no unless sb likes to hear fridge during night. Personally I will never choose apartment having family with 4 kids as neighbors. Kids as kids like to play and are noisy. It will never work for me, but as I said it goes back to personal preferences. Personally I think house 3 was best: excellent location and AC unit. Making friends thanks to nightlife? Those are one night stands not friendships.

Who moves abroad to pay to stay in some else's basement. She could have had an apt. and indulged in the culture for the same price. Why set a goal to travel to some many other countries if you are not going to enjoy the local people?

Are those local people going to be living in her apartment in the city? What's the difference if she's in a house or apartment? First floor of someone's house IS essentially an apartment for all intents and purposes. She now has an extra $200 per month to travel to those other countries and spend money in the markets instead of having to keep her purse strings tight because she spent all the money on the sleeping space. She's still in Hungary, enjoying the culture.

Just speculation but she's in a rush to travel so she can have a baby afterwards

The broker was so rude! "She is young, she is demanding, she thinks she can get everything." I think she can keep this to herself.

I thought it was hilarious. Not rude, just blunt. I like it when the brokers give their real opinions on their clients.

All her complaints were ridiculous But my favorite compliant ever .... it's too big an apartment, and no balcony! If I were her brother I would have said I'll give you the $200 a month if I can stay here For an administrator, I don't think she is a very linear thinker 33 countries by the age of 30? Get over yourself .....

I had a similar thought too. She seems very young to be an administrator.
