House of CB should be getting major scrutiny for claiming their dress are made of organic cotton, but aren't, and their websites are lying about fabric composition on dresses. Here's a great review: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqGQqZ2HadqSbsk

$250 and House of CB didn’t make a proper bodice for it? Those underwires are supposed to sit flush against your skin and the cups are supposed to be three dimensional, like a bra, to allow the breast to sit inside of them. Those cups are flat. That top is poorly constructed- they’re charging luxe prices for cheap design. Don’t waste your money. (And yes, I am talking about the first dress. Not the dupe.)

@dawnssful6 ай бұрын
Most clothing brands are not designing clothes for fuller busts. In order for her to get it to fit correctly, she would need to go to a company that specifically makes clothing for fuller busts or vintage inspired clothing, because generally those companies cater to figures where the bust is a good 9 to 11 in smaller than the waist, or she would need to get a custom dress. Tre a few companies around still that make clothes with a fuller bust in mind, but the vast majorities of companies don't because it requires specialized sewing skills and because it's too small of a market for them to actually make enough money in. Most individuals don't know these companies exist and they're not going to spend the money that these companies need to sustain themselves. It isn't a quality issue when clothes don't fit fuller busts, rather it's designers choices in regards to which market will sustain their business, it's better for them to fit the average sizes of a population and measurements of a population because they'll make more money that way (which will support their pattern makers, designers, sewists, and etc).

For an expensive dress that's a little more "up there" regarding brand it's not that gorgeous. $250 for a dress with pockets? Definitely worth it 😂
@janettewong99006 ай бұрын
IDK where you shop but I’ve been thrifting for 2 decades now and while pockets in dresses isn’t the standard, plenty of mid-range brands that don’t run in the hundreds offer dresses/skirts with pockets. An even easier solution is taking it into a tailor (call first to see if they’ll do it) and get pockets put in for less than that. If you’re low on funds, you can even ask if it’s cheaper to do one instead of a pair. I live in one of the most expensive areas of the US and it cost me $40 each to get two pockets to get put into my A-line dresses when I brought 3 dresses in (ie. $120 all together before tax and tip). If you have almost nothing to spare and you’re fairly good with a sewing machine, it’s actually a fairly simple alteration and pretty beginner friendly if you’re not doing it next to a zipper (ie. Put the pocket in on the side without the zipper)

Of course the quality in design and material is not the same.. but it almost looks like you need a smaller size in the dupe? It looks baggy, around the waist, the bust, and there is a gap on the straps too… it looks like it’s hanging on you, it’s clear you have a full bust, so this all indicates it’s too big for you. Which definitely adds to it looking worse than the original. I think with the proper size though you would at least have a more defined waistline, a more supported bust, and the proportions hitting the right spot a bit better. Like I said, not the same quality by far, but it definitely looks worse on you since it’s clearly *just* *too* *big* …
@lexc.79916 ай бұрын
It also looks like the CB dress is too small. Not that it looks bad on you, but again adds to the contrast between both dresses. There is slight bunching around your waist (even thought there is light boning) and you are only standing. This seems like it’s because it’s too tight, causing the fading to bunch.. it also cuts across your chest and back very tightly.
