This video shows the level of influence that Gord and the Hip had on all of us. Politics is soooo incredibly polarized right now, yet both sides unite in grief.

I love a full moment of silence in Parliament. Lately, I've seen people call for a "moment" but then only give 10 seconds. If it's worth celebrating, then give it the full minute. It needs to give you time to hurt, to think, to feel socially awkward. It's not some perfunctory BS. Love you, Gord.

Just discovered The Tragically Hip today after falling in love with the intro to Anne with an E. I admire Canada even more than ever after learning about Gord and what he had done. Seeing this assembly made me envious considering the state of things in DC these last several years.

Many people loved Gord Downie. I discovered "New Orleans is Sinking" years ago and loved what came after. It was a progression of stream of consciousness music with great guitar licks and true meaning. Nothing hollow. Simply solid Canadiana.

Gord was a true Canadian and represented the best of our country and culture. Man who walks among the stars will be forever remembered by Canadians and forever missed. A true human and a loving man.

Lone Wolf maybe you would.. maybe you wouldn't. Noone can be in all places and be all things at once yeah? Only human after all. He was one of the good ones though. You take my word and I'll take yours.

This is just overwhelming to me. It's hard to imagine any musician/activist getting this level of recognition in the United States. Perhaps Bob Dylan will? Just inspiring.
