I bought a Gucci wallet at a Goodwill thrift store 12 years ago for 8 dollars, and im still using it. Whoever priced the wallet obviously didn't know how expensive it actually was. It's soft and very high quality, really well-made. I looked it up online and its original price when new was 420 dollars, looks like I got a good deal.

Over ten years ago, while browsing an old lady's wares at a garage sale, I happened upon a Louis Vuitton monogram long wallet. Perfect condition, was absolutely authentic, and was priced at a grand total of $1. I swear I stopped breathing momentarily. Then I felt compelled to hide it away from other shoppers but did not, lol. I immediately went to pay the old lady for my stuff and felt kinda bad like maybe she didn't mean to have it out there so I asked if she was sure that price was right...she said, "Oh I didn't realize I put that sticker on there! How about .50 cents? That's fair?" I got and still to this day continue to use that damn LV wallet for fifty cents! Its still in great shape too!

It was after Patrizia convinced him to get involved with Gucci that his greed grew. Granted, you can't blame Patrizia alone for it, but you cannot blame his father either. Clearly he did something right to raise an intelligent man who got a law degree when he could have just live on daddy's money.

This used to be pretty common. I knew of a few cases myself. Not murderers but a get-through-school wife dumped for a successful-attorney wife. In pre-computer days it was considered “unmanly” (by men, not women) for a man to type. So it was important for men to get girlfriends to type their papers. If they married these women, the women went to work supporting them both while he continued the arduous journey to a law degree. Success made him realize they weren’t “intellectual equals” so he divorced her and married a younger, prettier woman whose intellectual abilities were in the gray area. I only mention this because this is the world the far right is aiming to recreate with a sharp artificial divide between men and women that benefits only the men. The push against abortion and, yes, even birth control, is an effort to eliminate female agency. I’m hoping that isn’t possible since there are plenty of men who find the idea abhorrent, as well.

Versace styles some gaudy items, but never tacky. Try ironing a Versace suit, it is a drycleaner's dream! Gucci style is formal, classic office attire. The top houses use finest quality materials and superb craftsmanship, they earn their fame as much as Rolex or RollsRoyce earn their acclaimed excellence. When on occasion I had to dissect some brand name clothes and accessories, the underlying workmanship was stunning.

Oh how sweet it is to sew your own lovely clothes. My father sent me to Singer sewing classes when I was 14. Those sewing classes paid off big when I was a mother of five. My children always received compliments on their clothes. When people asked me where did I buy various clothes, I always said, "They came from a little Boutique in Bonita Springs." Its a shame that the Gucci name is now remembered for this nasty mess. She should have been put in a Prison Work Sewing program. Maybe she could see how lucky she is. They would counter insist that the high quality of materials and construction (plus often the degree of labor intensive tailoring) were clear evidence not homemade. 🤣 My favorite so to speak was a full length Italian wool coat. I suppose these products are overpriced and many of their fashion designs are just absolutely hideous. I've never had anything from Gucci but 10 years ago my father bought me a Michael Kors wallet for Christmas. I'm sure it would also be considered overpriced and gaudy...but I have to say that 10 years later it still looks as good as the day he gave it to me. The leather is perfect, the stitching is perfect and intact and it is still beautiful. I've used it every day since getting it and my young kids have occasionally manhandled it over the years LOL. It is however of such high quality I don't think it will ever need to be replaced. Sometimes I think the old adage may be correct... You really do get what you pay for.

One thing in defense of fashion houses. When thinking of the Couture lines from Gucci, or Chanel or Dior etcetera thousands of hours went into the design and creation of those garments and the very best materials available which in turn took hundreds of hours to design and create. So yes, while you are paying for the double CC or the Gucci stamped on it, you are buying something that if taken care of will last years and depending on your tastes is a piece of art.

I watched the movie, without knowing the real story, and enjoyed it. I then went home to Google info and watch documentaries. I’m not into Gucci brands, nor could afford them. I can imagine that the disgraceful murderess *loves* all of this movie stuff...all the hype, being played by *the* Lady GaGa. And I can imagine that The House of Gucci *hates* all the attention to this story. I am someone who really loves and appreciates some high fashion / couture as incredible works of art [think Schiaparelli or Iris van Herpen] I have no interest in obscenely priced clothing as status symbols. And Gucci...seriously, I have never seen the appeal aside from some people enjoying the surrealist spectacle that is typically a Gucci show. The House of Gucci was built on being deliberately ugly and buffoonish. It has always felt like Gucci just laughing at every obsessive Gucci fan like *_lol, we have had 100% success in proving that you will literally wear a garbage bag if we put our name on it_* No beauty, no extraordinary craftmanship, no art.

Thinking about Gucci makes me feel kind of fun, though. In a way. I want to put on a persona and go down to Hollywood and work the room. It was fun, but it’s a phony put on. I actually never had Gucci, but I had a lot of other designer things, what a waste.
