Thank you for this interview. My daughter converted to Judaism and has lived in Israel for over 5 years with her husband and our 3 grandchildren. She was raised Christian. My husband and I fully support her decision and loved visiting them in Israel. It’s been one of the joys of my life to embrace the land and its people. So thankful to God!!!!

I know Rabbi‘s always ask during the process of conversion, how your family feels about converting especially if you are the only person in your family to convert. They do not want to cause any issues between husbands and wives, or young people and their parents, it’s difficult, but the Beit Din asks about it, they’re not trying to be a truce if they were just trying to understand the potential convert better.❤

I was born in Tel Aviv but raised in the U.S., it warms my heart to see people of African ancestry, regardless of whether they are part of American Black culture or Black Culture elsewhere in the world, convert to Judaism! Judaism was never supposed to stay mono-ethnic culture, but a MULTI-Ethnic global Faith! After the Romans caused the Diaspora of the Jews of Ancient Israel, it’s known that Jews dispersed all throughout other parts of Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. When Israel was re-established in 1948, we had a salad of so many Jewish ethnicities come back home to Judaism’s home. This was when gradually Moroccan Jews, Yemenite Jews, Persian Jews, Libyan Jews, Russian Jews, Spanish Jews, Greek Jews, Hungarian Jews, Ethiopian Jews, and I can literally go on and on, of all the different ethnic groups of Jews all coming together in one Jewish nation. The fact more African descendant people are wanting to convert now to Judaism, is literally a blessing. To see more black people want to become Jewish, I just can’t express how much love I feel when seeing this. Literally to hear a black person say “Hashem”, I just love it!!! ❤❤ ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿🇮🇱🇮🇱✡️✡️

Before I left the church, the Tanakh was my food. it was the beautiful fire of Hashem that began the separation, and my love for Him was so much like Nissims. That's my biggest concern going through conversion, I won't, can't become complacent. When I pray to Hashem, it's life to me.

Hashem (the Name). Hashem's name is holy, so holy, that not even the sages say Hashem's Name. So my question to any Christian or messianic is this, if Hashem's most Holy prophet and the most trusted to lead His children, Moshe Rebbienu, doesn't even say His Name except when allowed to, what makes you think He would step aside for those who are of the uncircumcised nations? Food for thought.
@eastbayman2160

@@NalieJoythe name Hashem is a substitution. it literally means "the Name." I assume the other name you are referring to is the tetragrammaton or the shem hamefurash. we have refrained from using that four-letter name since the Romans destroyed the second beis hamikdash, the Temple in Jerusalem that is now under Arab control. We take on many practices of mourning as we await the geulah, the coming of Moschiach and the bringing of peace to the entire world. Instead of speaking the tetragrammaton b'ksav, as it is written, we use the Hebrew word for 'Lord' during prayer and Torah reading. In everyday conversation we usually say Hashem, sometimes Ribbono shel Olam, ruler of the world. The Lubavitcher Rebbeim ztz"l would say der Eibershter, "the one above." Chazal say Hakadosh Baruch Hu, the Blessed Holy One, etc

I was really impressed by nissim's accepting different cultre. Being able to be strong and persevere! I remember the first time my son encounterd an ethiopian.she was to be his new kindergarden teacher.he was almost 5 and was very suspicious. When i asked him about it he said point blank. shes black. And that was really the only reason. He was so taken aback he couldnt see past that. At that moment i realized he had never seen someone black. I really got it. It made sense to me. Instead of getting upset with him and virtue signalling we had a real conversation about even just explaining something he never knew existed. People get so defensive and rant about acceptance without willing to accept the most natural response to meeting something that is strange for them. I gave him that validation and explained that people actually can be a different color and it doesnt mean there is somthing dangerous about them. It took him a few minutes to digest and thats was that. we never had to go into a lecture of accepting others or anything. As soon as he got over his initial shock he was fine. He ended up adoring her. I think its important to be strong when you encounter hostility because it usually stems from ignorance. Of course not always but it often is.Luckily Today there is a large and growing population of jews in different colors so its less uncommon and hopefully more and more colors shapes and sizes will all come together as one people of g-d. Thank you for your lovely channel! Hope to see you soon in the homeland. Bracha vhazlacha!!

House of Lev I Love your first interview. Fantastic! I love how Nissim was talking about prayer, and how he talks to Hashem. As a person converting this is a issue especially coming from Christianity. How do I pray in Judiasm? I've been praying a lot and of course directly to Hashem not through Jesus. This is a change. My heart and soul has been so filled with Hashems presence as I learn to open up to him. I'm 63 years old but I feel like a young child again just learning. I appreciate so much the specific adjustments as a Black family fitting into the Orthodox community. Someone has to clear the path for others and you Nissom have been blessed with that job. Shalom and Blessings on all three of you.

Hey Patricia. Thank you for your beautiful message. The best way to pray to Hashem is from your heart. Just like you would talk to someone you love very much. And that’s it! Very nice interview. Nissim Black has a refreshing sense of humor. I did not expect to see that in this interview. It provides a small window into his personality. His reflection on racism that is found in America and how it is different in Israel is also interesting. You can go from foe to friend in an instant because color is only skin deep, this is beautiful statement. I wish it could be so in America. I wish it could be so throughout the World. The world needs a lot of work. Thank you for this interview.

In a KZbin video discussion Rabbi Black made with Rabbi Tovia Singer, he speaks about how he maintained a positive relationship with his parents. Like he says here, don't expect the world around you to move as fast as you. To paraphrase: humility requires REspect (viz., looking back to see where the people you pass are holding. Like Abraham told Lot when they parted ways, "I'm right here for you.")

One of my bridesmaids was not Jewish, but after the Rabbi spoke under the chuppeh, when he spoke about me and my husband very warmly and personally, she went to him to say how moved she was by his "speech". And, not knowing any better, she kept moving towards him (wanting to hug him), and he kept smiling and backing up! And it went on and on, until he fell back over into the bushes! The funniest part was how he ended up taking her arm to help him up!!😂😂 Anyways, it was funny!! (Maybe you had to be there? 😅 but it WAS really funny!) 😁

My husband and I are in the process of giyur as well. Only about a year and a half ago did we begin to attend our Chabad shul, and just moved to the eruv at the end of June of 2022. We haven't had any real classes yet and still have to be "officially" accepted into the geirus process by our Beis Din once we get the applications in. You both inspire me, and Nissim certainly does! I got to meet him when he was here a few years ago for Chanukah, and being in his presence you could just feel his humility and holiness! My husband and I have experienced antisemitism first hand, just recently my community has as well, and I honestly admire your perseverance because I can only imagine you have it doubly hard with both racism and antisemitism. I've always accepted everyone regardless of skin color or cultural differences, and I will never be able to understand the sinat chinam of some folks. Thank you for sharing your journey. Hashem willing, despite being on opposite coasts, I would love to meet you two some day!

Just noticed your channel when it popped up. You both seem like such beautiful souls. I wish you every best wish! As an Israeli (born in the U.S and lived entire adult life here), I can honestly say that this country has many wonderful attributes and is great for families. However, I strongly recommend doing your homework before thinking about moving here. It's an expensive country and while the government gives some help to new immigrants, it would be wise to make sure you check out employment (for example if you have professional licenses which may or may not be accepted), housing, schooling options and what area you would like to live. You will get a very different experience depending on the area. Let me know if you need any assistance with questions.

There's been a bit of Jewish influence on my life so I now get recommended a lot of Jewish content lol. Just saw you guys on Living L'Chaim AND Mislaibeled! This fire that Nissim is talking about completely changed my walk in the faith as well. I had the blessed opportunity of traveling to Israel for free last Oct during Sukkot and pray you guys also have the opportunity to go. I still tear up thinking about visiting Shiloh and the Sea of Galilee. Also having Shabbat dinner with an American orthodox family that made aliyah and live within sight of the Western wall! Such a special trip. Sidenote - would love some modest fashion tips! Struggling to create stylish outfits and pairing turbans/headwraps that match. I am supposed to be studying, school restarts the 16th, and Hashem got me so distracted today watching KZbin videos on the Torah and Christianity’s arguments and how it strayed .lol, but this is a good distraction. I really enjoyed this ,AGAIN , I got duped that it was a live stream because the notice came up on my laptop, and I jump right in, but that is ok .lol, the brother sounds solid in faith and deeply in love with Hashem, and after the video, I literally feel and felt like fire is in my stomach ,shut up , seriously. I have to find something to do with this feeling. I am like the Nehemiah and the Jeremiah in my community, so you can imagine the unpopularity and the mix views I get. However, I, so badly love Hashem and this video and channel helps. Baruch Hashem. I am actively working, day and night, on my Degree in Chemical Engineering currently, and got experience from NH3 plants in the Caribbean and eventually want to do my PH in ChemEng. I am seriously thinking of a University in Israel. Hashem knows my heart, if He wills, He wills. But, I hope he wills. lol. I feel so comfortable with the 100% conversion, of my love affair with Hashem because I am seeing people that look like me ,already there, that means a lot, honestly I had some presumptions ,that African Jews didn’t exist, after seeing the black Hebrew Israelites, one can’t be blame, and that nonsense is in Trinidad too, so thanks for clearing that up. Todah Rabah, my friends, I hope to meet up with you in Israel one day. For what it is worth I am in 100% support of your move to Israel, it is, either you are in or not, all the way in or out. Baruch Hashem, the G-d of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel his people.

Shabbat shalom! My name is Sarach bat Moshe. I'm 62 years old. I was born an Orthodox Jew and have lived as a Jew all my life. My father was a Rabbi and I went to Hebrew school. About 6yrs ago I converted and became a neo Hassidic Jew. My Rabbis's name is Rabbi Moshe Ben Avraham. The interview I just listened to was very interesting. Nissim Black in speaking of his daughter and the struggles reminded me of what I went through. This comment is not about me. I really would like you to get to know my Rabbi and the teachings. I'm positive it will open up a whole new world for you. Thanks for interview I enjoyed it. Shalom

If only R' Nissan had written the spot-on "Cliff's Notes" describing the sensations of aliya before I had arrived here! I think so many of us have a chip on our shoulder, so obviously, we would think it's US and take things personally when actually it's just the culture. Thank You for hosting R' Nissan. I would recommend this video to anyone about to make aliya.

It’s sad but what he said is very true My daughter experienced it in her school. It broke my heart but what gave me joy is how her Morah handled it. He’s right my daughter does deal with issues with hair her body type with her skin. I mean just different things, but she has friends that she’s been in school with since she was in the preschool and they’ve been in the same class together for the past three years now next year my daughter will be in first grade and in her school they separate the boys and the girls at that stage she will for the first time be without them. Her classroom will be all girls and two of her friends are boys and me and their moms talk about how they’re gonna all deal with the separation because they haven’t been a part since they all started school together and that’s gonna be very different for them but I know she’s going to do fine because she’s very sweet hearted. She makes friends very easily. She is well known in our community. She’s gotten lots of love from everyone in our community.
